  • Skeptical but now a fan

When I first read about this product I was skeptical about its effectiveness but tired of taking the bubble cover off and on each morning when I swam. Decided to try it was only a few dollars and what harm could it do if it did not work since it only lasted for a week at a time. Full disclosure this is south Fl and it is now nearly November when the night temp is going down to the low seventies and 85 at noon. One week later without the regular blanket on, and the pool heater set for 84 for 6 hours a day, the temp of the water in the early morning is 81 degrees. The loss is 3 degrees in a week certainly swimmable temp. How it will work in the real winter when the overnight temp is in the 60's I do not know, but in the fall, this is certainly worth the money. Plus no effect on the filter or taste or smell. ... show more

  • Broadcasting or Skimmer
Style: Regular
Seems to work for my pool. Had some 100 F weather lately and I wasn't losing as much water as before. However, between broadcasting or directly to the skimmer in the two weeks; Broadcasting it might be better instead of directly into the skimmer. It does make the pool taste like soapy more than just putting into the skimmer. I do have a DE filter. ... show more

  • Amazed! Here's why...
Style: Regular
Ok this stuff WORKS! I've been using it for only 3 days and here's what I did..but 1st the FACTS. We have about a 7,600 gal new build pool located in mid FL. Now even though it's Florida our pool has never really gotten above 86.1º max. It's a screened lanai which blocks a bit of sun (approx 10%) and doesn't see sun until about 1pm. Measured with a digital thermometer and checking temps since May our water temps have been around 84º overnight and averaging around 85.5 during the afternoons. Still too cold for my blood Lol. Swimmable but we wanted a bit warmer and without huge temp drops at night. I've been measuring temps almost everyday for the last 3 mos. We do have a solar blanket cover thats custom fit but what a pain in the A$$ so we don't use it..It's been really rainy this summer for months now so that hasn't been helping. So to sum it up with my conditions when it's sunny for days I can get 86.1º naturally. NOW since using this product I saw results the next day. Following the directions I added 4oz. after shaking directly to the skimmer and gave a bit more for good measure. At the time pool temp was about 85.5º and it was Friday 8/11. Keep in mind this product will not work if you're pumps are running 24/7 or if wind is a factor. Your water MUST BE STILL. My pool pumps shut off around 8:30pm. Ok so before retiring for the evening while the water was settled I ADDED another 1oz or so directly to the pool and NOT the skimmer. The next morning I checked and noticed only about a small drop. Temp was 85.1º but at least not 84. I was happy. Why? That means during the day I would be able to retain heat with a higher base temp than previously to start with and didn't experience too bad a temp drop overnight. During the late afternoon pool got to 86.2 . Not dramatic but I could tell it was working and it's the warmest I've ever gotten. Now last night 8/12 before going to bed I added another 1oz or so directly to the pool water. I have not measured the temp during the evening so I never got to see how warm it got for the later part of the day. Now this morning 8/13 at 7am my temp readings were 86.3º from overnight! I'll take it! I think the trick is adding this stuff whether you use this product or another brand directly to calm water as a booster at night with the pumps off. So far I'm happy and chose this product because of the price so maybe not as good as a solar cover but at least convenient and seems to make a slight difference that can be felt. Oh and depending on your conditions..your results may vary :) ... show more

  • This product really does work
Style: Premium
We added 3 oz to our 15,000 gallon pool last Friday when the pool temp was 71.2. Yesterday it was at 78.8 when we went to dinner and this morning it is still 78.8 after it went down to 71 last night. One bottle will last us 10 weeks with 2 oz left over so getting rid of our solar cover and keeping this product in stock now. ... show more

  • It helps with heat loss, but watch your chlorine levels.
Style: Regular
This product definitely helps retain heat during the night. I have a 25,000 inground salt water pool in Virginia. I'm noticing only 2 degree temp loss vs. 3-4degrees without liquid solar cover if night temps are in the 60's. I do have a bubble solar cover which works better. However this helps when the kids forget to cover the pool. I have noticed my chlorine levels have been too high even when I left the bubble cover off for 4 days. I had to turn my chlorinator off for about 5 days to get the chlorine into the normal range. I recommend checking your chlorine levels a little more often. ... show more

  • Absolutely works!

This works so well that our 16' round above-ground pool is now at 88℉ (31℃) in May, in the shade!! Here is more info. And some tips at the bottom! - We also have a SunHeater S120U Universal Solar Pool Heater 2 by 20-Feet, which a passive heating solution. That one is in the sun between 8 AM and 2 PM. We have the 10' Intex sand pump which only runs within those hours. - We live near San Jose, California. So there is a lot of sun, but it also cools down every night, which is when you'd lose your heat. - We do NOT have a solar cover. We use the normal cover that came with the pool. TIPS: - Get some solar heating mat. They are super affordable and worth it. The bigger the surface, the better. - If you want to warm up: only run your pump when direct sun light is on the solar heating mat! - If it gets too hot: run your pump at night, it will work as a giant heatsink. - The first two weeks you start using this product, use it twice per week. While your pump runs! ... show more

  • Bottle is shy of advertised amount.

If it actually works ill adjust review. The reason for one star is the quantity. This stuff isnt cheap and the bottle was already down 3oz before i opened it. Unfortunately i didn't get a pic to prove. Just look before opening to make sure you get the entire 32oz you're supposed to. 3oz doesn't sound like alot but considering it only takes 4 to treat my pool, it adds up to alot.. ... show more
