  • A great product, but the capsule size is larger than expected.
Flavor Name: Unflavored Size: 200 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought these omega 3-6-9 capsules to take with my daily supplements. There is no odor with these capsules, and they don’t have a taste. The capsules do get slippery when taken with a beverage, which is helpful. The only thing I wasn’t expecting is the size of the capsules. They are bigger than any other tablet or capsule I take. I can swallow them, but for someone who has trouble taking pills or capsules, these might be a bit challenging. I do recommend these capsules overall. ... show more

  • Stan the Man Reviews: Alpha Lipoic Acid
Flavor Name: Unflavored Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
I found out about Alpha Lipoic Acid, ALA, for a book on home cures by Johnny Bowden which I bought for my Kindle Fire. I had Type II diabetes with neuropathy in my feet and lower legs. My circulation itself is good but my feet felt like they were encased in crab shells and I used to tell my wife not to massage my lower legs because it was a distinctly unpleasant experience. The Bowden book recommends ALA, Chromium, Magnesiu, Cassia Cinnamon which is the kind you regularly buy in supermarkets, and a few other supplements with lesser effect. I am normally skeptical of supplements but, after taking the minium suggested dose, in the space of one hour or less, about the time it takes a couple of aspirins to kick in, a wark glow began to literally flow down my legs and into my feet. By the next dose on the second day, my feet felt normal and it was positively pleasant when I subbed my lower legs. This effect, in my seems to continuum for a food three or four weeks if I quit taking the supplement which I did to convince myself that this "miracle" cure was not a placebo effect. I worked exactly the same way. Now I have started taking it again after once again quitting do to just being lax and my legs once again feel normal or better than normal. It is interesting to note that, when I first got ALA, if was sold mainly in much lower doses but now nearly all of it seems to be sold in the 600mg dose. This dose, according to the Johnny Bowden book, was figured out by researchers so I guess the supplement companies finally got the hint. I would strong recommend the book which is available from Amazon. Before you start loading up on either Chromium or Cassia sinnamon, however, I would read the literature. Cassie can probably cause liver damage in high doses. I believe the recommended does was a half teaspoon daily. As for Chromium, a nurse I worked with in the mental hospital, the lady in charge in fact, said that Chromium had given her retinal bleeds. Since I have had retinopathy in line with neuropathy, this gave me pause. As a finely word, be careful with most supplents. Iron supplements will kill you dead in high dosages and there is no cure except a liver transplant. I took four alfalfa tablets instead of two and felt like I had doubled up on Dristan. They really act like a drug in spades. If you like alfalfa sprouts, by the way, be aware that the seeds themselves are toxic. The only downside of ALA seems to be reflux or heartburn. I take it on an empty stomach with a full glass of water and I don't lie down for at least an hour afterwards. Take it by itself and not in proximity to other drugs and supplements would be my advice. Tums cure heartburn by the way and, in conjunction with above mentioned Magnesium, are a good source of calcium. Magnesium, of course, if milk of magnesia and it has a rather pronounced laxative effect on me. In closing, I do wish capsules used real gelatin. I am not a Vegans, the snimals are already dea anway, and real gelatin does wonders for your skin and nails. Capsules of real gelatin are also easier to swallow and we know what it actually is and does. ... show more
