This was the second blanket we've purchased to replace our old one that quit working on one side. We bought the first one at Macy's and returned it because it had a habit of sliding off the end of the bed while we slept AND there is a 6+ inch strip down the center that wasn't heating. Although it is great to keep spouses on their sides of the bed by not wishing to cross the icy no-man's land down the center, it's not optimal for those of us who cuddle. This purchase was another Sunbeam but a different model. Apparently, all Sunbeam heating blankets are made now to have this non-heated center section. We have been happy with this blanket in spite of the issue with the cold center. It stays on the bed, it heats quickly and well, and it is quite soft. Overall, we're pleased. ... show more

I'd currently give this 5 stars, if I didn't need to return the first one I purchased. The first one arrived in a sturdy Amazon cardboard box, but, the blanket was wadded up & spilling out of a thin, torn up plastic bag (think dry cleaner bag quality) & the electric control/plug part was missing (so, I only received the blanket part). I did an exchange, through Amazon, right away (UPS next day pick up) &, even before UPS picked it up, Amazon had already sent out the replacement. The second blanket I received was packed the same as the first, but it was neatly folded in an untorn clear plastic bag with the controls included (it really should be in a less flimsy bag, at the very least). Top notch customer service! Thank you! I bought the walnut brown (because this was the lowest priced color) queen sized electric blanket, so far, it's wonderful! I have a rare medical condition which causes severe chronic pain all over (EDS) & bought this in hopes it would be like a full body heating pad. Oh..., it is! So soothing! I sleep better too. The blanket is definitely queen size, nice & roomy on my full size bed. It's a luscious, double sided furry velvet. The color looks darker online, it's closer to a melted chocolate color (mmm...!), looks like my bed is covered in chocolate : ) It has two controls (one for each side) with long electric cords, which is fine with me, so I only need to heat up the side of the bed I'm on. It plugs in firmly to the blanket (I once had an electric throw blanket that didn't, & would unplug constantly). It has a 10 hour constant heat, with 10 heat settings (the setting numbers are lit up). I tried out the hottest setting & it certainly was hot, be warned! I now generally set it between 2 to 4 which is comfortable. Setting 2 is super cozy, setting 4 being used when I really hurt. So far, I love this blanket, it does what it should & looks nice too! It's wonderful on these cold Colorado winter days & nights~ Again, I'd give it 5 stars if the first purchase came with the electric plug/controls, but, the customer service was prompt & fantastic. ... show more

The Sunbeam blanket looked good, was soft, and easy to operate. Unfortunately, after approximate 1.5 years the blanket quit producing heat.

    • A perfect and versatile blanket for the bed or couch!

I didn't know that this blanket would be so versatile and would make me love winter! I bought this blanket after my grandfather told me he loved and used his so much all winter. He owned a throw, but I wanted one that was big enough for a queen-sized bed. However, I often sleep on the couch (being an insomniac) and wondered if I would regret it. I do not, but it's because I got this blanket over others, and I'm VERY happy as a result. This blanket can be controlled by two controllers. One controls the left-side and one controls the right. When the blanket is on the queen-sized bed, you and your partner can control the settings to meet your needs individually. This in and of itself is absolutely glorious and has saved me from many fights (I'm a freeze baby but my significant other is not). However, having this option is perfect for when you are using it on the couch! Since the blanket is much larger than a throw, about half the blanket is off the couch, and half of it is on covering me while I watch TV. I only turn on the setting that I need and leave the other setting off. Therefore, having the two settings can make this blanket versatile in many ways, so it's worth it over the one-setting blankets. My dogs or my partner can use the blanket without being roasted out of the bed or the couch while I'm cozy warm. It's a win-win! I've had the blanket all-winter and I have not had ONE problem with it. It washes well, it's easy to transport from room to room. Yes, it's a bit heavy because of the heating mechanisms throughout the blanket, and the cords are a bit long, but it's not too much trouble to transport. The cords are great in that they are long enough to stretch behind a big bed or a long couch. One controller is on one night stand and the other controller is on the other. This blanket is worth every penny, especially if you are freeze baby. I will warn you that it will make you not want to get out from under it. I often use it no higher than a setting 5 and that's nice and toasty. I have never taken it to it's highest settings, but I like knowing that I can if I ever get that cold.
