  • Small Package-Big Delivery
Color: Dark Red
Battery chargers keep getting more and more sophisticated. I have a couple of older ones and while they work fine for charging up a battery, this one provides so much more in a package less than a quarter of their size. This thing is like the little engine that could. First off, it will charge all your batteries...yeah, the one in your car, the one in your motorcycle/scooter, the one in your truck and the one in your riding tractor. It handles the standard, AGM and gel batteries. You can use it to test your battery before putting it on to charge too. What I really like is the ability to desulfate a standard battery. The plates in a standard battery get a coating of sulfate after a period of time...it's something that happens to all standard batteries. This charger can use a pulsing charge which works to loosen and have that sulfur come off the plates, rejuvenating the battery. I haven't seen this feature in an inexpensive unit like this before. Mostly you only see it in battery chargers costing at least 3 or 4 times more. My only nitpick is I wish there was a way of changing the charging clips so I could use it more easily on vehicles where I installed a battery charge extention. These have a standard clip on them, so all I have to do is pull out the pigtail and plug it into the charger. Unfortunately this unit is hardwired to the standard clothespin type clips, so unless I do some surgery and add a junction I won't be able to use those extensions. It's a small thing considering how much else this charger does, but you can't help wishing for everything right? If you forget (and we all do) this charger also shuts itself off when battery is fully charged and works as a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up. Full featured charger at a bargain price. ... show more

  • Lightweight Smart Charger for large and small lead acid batteries.
This little charger does the trick without all the weight of traditional chargers. By using a switching power supply, the charger has a much smaller transformer than traditional chargers have. That makes it more power efficient and also a lot lighter. Even light enough to put into a saddlebag on a motorcycle. However, unlike a lot of battery "maintainers" that are also lightweight, this charger can supply up to 6A, and that means it can be used to charge car and boat batteries as well. The standard charging function is straightforward, and there is a small display that shows the charge voltage, current, and the ambient temperature. There is also a feature that is meant to recover sketchy batteries using a pulse charging method. I had an old motorcycle battery that was down to about 8V. The pulse charging repair mode helped it a lot, and got it back to 12V or so - where the maintainer type charger would not even try to charge the battery. The charger is not as quiet as most, because there is a small cooling fan that whirs while it's working. And lastly, my only gripe with this unit is that the cable with the battery clips is fairly short and does not have the SAE disconnect that many small chargers and maintainers have. I have put the SAE to O ring terminals on my motorcycle so that I can easily connect a charger without removing the side cover. This charger does not have that SAE connector as part of the cable, so I have to remove the side cover to use the charger. Overall I'm happy with this product. ... show more

  • Works very well. Minimal instructions
This float charger seems to have many options but they are not very well explained in the minimal instructions. By default it appears to start in the Car/Truck mode. This shows a 6 amp charge being applied. For me, I'm keeping a host of PWC batteries charged over the winter. I first tried the AGM setting and this showed ~3 amps which is great. But then it read 'FULL" when it was not so. So, I changed it to the motorcycle setting. This works great for the PWC batteries. At most 3 amps was applied and it decreased as the voltage came up. Eventually when charged, the charger would shut off. This charger has a fan, and it's a very loud fan for such a small charger. I question why a charger of this size even needs a fan. My larger 30 amp charger doesn't even have a fan. I feel in a dusty garage setting, eventually the fan will fail and be a problem. I've topped up 4 batteries so far and everything works great. I'm not trying the repair mode on an older battery that had 9 volts. I don't know what I should expect but thought I'd give it a go since it's an option. It's been running for ~4 hours.. I notice the voltage is up to 11 volts, so maybe it is doing something. I'm mainly concerned that I can float charge PWC batteries at a lower amperage, so this is working greatefor me. ... show more

  • Nice trickle charger
I had two depleted car batteries at the house and wanted to see if this charger could really repair them. No it did not restore them like I was hoping. It did allow those batteries to keep a charge but not enough to run a vehicle on. However it did allow me to use those once useless batteries on my electric gate. So it does have a slight bit of truth to its ability to somewhat repair batteries. The charger is small and can be stored anywhere, while in use or for storage. It’s great at keeping batteries fully charged with the trickle charge feature. I do not drive my truck as much when I work and it has a tendency of being dead when I need it. So now I keep this hooked up on those long stretches that I know I can’t drive it and it starts right up when I can drive it. ... show more
