  • Spike Aerator and Spreader Combo: This broadcast spreader combines the functions of both spreading and aerating. It ensures nutrients are evenly distributed across your lawn while also aerating the soil. This promotes better air-to-soil interaction, leading to healthier lawn growth. The high quality steel agitator stirs seeds and fertilizers to prevent clumping. The dual functionality of spike aerator and spreader saves you time and effort, simplifying your lawn maintenance tasks.
  • Precise Flow Control: The flow control plate with clear indicators features includes an infinitely adjustable stop device to ensure precise spreading and minimize waste. With a spreading width of 32 inches, it efficiently treats large lawn areas in a single pass. Equipped with the high quality all-steel spacious hopper that resists twisting and bending and ensuring long-lasting use. The spike aerator can load over 100lbs without needing frequent refills.
  • Nine Star-Shaped Soil Penetrators: The unique Suchtale tow behind spike aerator features nine 3D steel tines, each 8 inches in diameter with 10 curved design spikes, making larger, deeper ventilation holes. The high-grade steel prevent rust and bending, allowing maximum soil penetration and depth even on tough terrains and can penetrate compacted soil up to 2 inches deep. The tines rotate independently, ensuring water, seeds, and nutrients reach the roots.
  • Durable & Easy to Use: With steel frame and powder coating finish, our tow behind spreader is designed for a long life span. The all-steel hopper is robust and durable. Made from durable rubber, the 8 wheels are skid-resistant, enhancing maneuverability. Top Amazon Reviews

  • Agree with original reviewer...wouldn't recommend
1st, Amazon sent me one that was clearly opened where someone had attempted assembly, gave up, and sent it back in as some bolts had nuts on them and some tell tale markings inside of screws. Agreed that all these nuts and bolts are primarily in one bag and counts are random. I was missing a huge washer for wheel and was lucky I'm a mechanic and had a spare that would fit over the axle. The assembly was annoying due to the above and having to sort nuts and bolts. But what makes it worse is that with them all being in one bag, you can't determine what is what as the instructions tell you what to use, but unless experienced with m5 m6 measurements, you have no clue. Assembly took about 2.5 hours or so. Once it's put together it wasn't bad until it was. The spikes are sharp and do okay with semi damp soil. They don't puncture dry too much if it isn't super weighed down. The spreading is questionable. Some basic 20 lbs of Kentucky bluegrass I realized wasn't even dropping out with the lever set at 2.5 out of 6. Moved it to halfway which helped. Largest problem is in what another reviewer stated that I missed. This has to aerate in order to spread. So if you want to drop grass seeds and then some fertilizer, you'll still have to have the spikes in the ground as that's the only way the spreader rotates via a chain connected to spike rod. This thing is too much trouble and too high a cost not to be able to spread without aerating. Look elsewhere. ... show more

  • ‼️ a core aerator on Amazon would be a better choice
➡️ Assembly and Build Quality I found the assembly process straightforward, taking about 90 minutes. The instructions were clear, and the parts fit well, making setup manageable. The aerator is constructed from galvanized steel, which provides durability and rust resistance, but the bolts and smaller components could be sturdier. Some users have mentioned needing to reinforce a few areas after extended use, but I haven’t noticed this yet after a couple weeks. ➡️ Performance and Functionality This aerator does a good job of penetrating the soil, especially in moderately compacted areas. Its 40-inch width covers a lot of ground efficiently, reducing the time spent on lawn care. However, if the soil is very hard or dry, it may not penetrate as deeply without additional weight added on top. Compared to core aerators, which remove plugs of soil, spike aerators like this one push holes into the ground, which can sometimes cause compaction over time rather than alleviating it. ➡️ Environmental and Health Considerations The use of galvanized steel extends the product’s lifespan by preventing rust, but the zinc coating can have environmental consequences. Zinc mining and processing contribute to habitat destruction and water contamination, and as the coating wears off over time, small amounts of zinc may leach into the soil. While this isn’t a major concern for short-term use, it’s something to consider for long-term lawn health. Additionally, some users have reported that the wheels are made from lower-grade plastic, which may degrade faster and contribute to microplastic pollution. A model with metal wheels or reinforced rubber on Amazon would be a better choice for sustainability. ➡️ Comparison to Other Aerators on Amazon For those looking for an alternative, the Brinly 40-Inch Tow Behind Spike Aerator offers similar functionality but is known for using heat-treated steel tines, which are more resistant to wear and may reduce the need for frequent replacements. Another option is the Agri-Fab 40-Inch Tow Plug Aerator, which pulls cores of soil instead of just creating holes, leading to better long-term soil health. Core aerators tend to be more expensive, but they offer a more effective solution for truly compacted lawns. ➡️ Price and Value At $270, this aerator is in the mid-range for its category. Given its durable frame and functional design, it offers decent value, but the need for occasional reinforcement and potential long-term soil compaction issues make it less ideal than some alternatives. If you’re looking for a basic aerator that gets the job done, this is a solid choice. However, if you’re concerned about long-term soil health, a core aerator might be a better investment. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars While the Suchtale Tow Behind Spike Aerator is effective and well-built for its price, the environmental impact of its materials and the potential for long-term soil compaction prevent it from getting a higher rating. It’s a decent budget-friendly option, but for those prioritizing long-term lawn health and sustainability, a core aerator would be a better choice. ... show more

  • Run away! Cheap materials and poor performance
run away from this product. Cheap materials, a rake does a better job aerating. The seed spreader pretty much dumps the seed even on the lowest setting wasting 350 bucks of seed. As I said the aerator can’t even penetrate the ground and materials can’t even withstand putting a couple of cinder blocks to help get in the ground. ... show more

  • It's good, not great
The instructions are really well done for a change. I don't like that they put at the nuts and bolts into one bag the you had to sift thru and find the pieces. It also would say things like "25 Pieces" by letter J, except they ship 32 of them so you're not really sure they're the right item. Also, the spreader setting is not good. It's just "more or less" vs numerical settings like every other spreader ever. Lastly, it ONLY spreads if it's actively aerating. I don't want to have to aerate every time I need to spread anything ... show more

  • The perfect lawn seeder
This is undoubtedly the best seeder/spreader that I have ever seen. Combing the ability to seed, fertilize and aerate in one pass is remarkable. Assembly was easy as I followed the instructions word for word. It didn't take too long to do so either. In the past I have found that the spreaders that I have used have had some serious flaws whereas this one doesn't. This one has an automatic stop so that you don't lose materials when you stop. It has the ability to go over asphalt or concrete and not engage the spikes or spreader. The spikes are large enough to do a great job of aerating and when I spread the seed it allows it to enter into the perforated holes. When spreading the fertilizer the holes will allow the fertilizer to get to the roots. This also allows air, water and other minerals from the atmosphere to get deep into my lawn. It has great wheels on it that make the ride comfortable and efficient. The hopper is powder coated steel which will give me years of service. All of the things that I have had challenges in the past with in using my old spreader I have found that this one has solved all of those issues and I am thoroughly impressed with it. I would highly recommend this spreader to anyone in need as it will be a true asset for you and your lawn. ... show more
