Description

Needle leaf Ludwigia is a beautiful plant with delicate green and red leaves. This is an easy plant to keep that adds movement and dimension to the aquarium. Needle leaf plants have thin, pointed leaves that grow in opposite pairs along the whole length of the stem. The leaves can be green or red depending on the amount of iron available in the water. If pruned frequently, this plant will branch out and provide a bushy filler for the mid- or background of your tank. Needle leaf is a versatile plant, but to get the desirable bright red color, you must provide high lighting and nutrient levels. High iron content will bring out more red tones in the plant. CO2 injection is not required for the cultivation of this plant but can help it grow more robustly. The plant can be grown submersed or emersed.

It came nicely packed with a heat back, which is good because it has been cold here! Nice full and leafy, beautiful colors! I already ordered two more for my other tank! PS. They have since both died, just melted away! I planted these in the substrate. the first one I bought is fine and I just dropped it in my betta tank on the bare bottom.? My issue is that the other half of the plants had been directly incontact with the handwarmer placed in the box to keep the plants alive due to lazy packaging. The plants came quickly, very well packaged, and took off almost immediately. Minimal melt (which was a pleasant surprise as they seemed to be emersed cut stems). My tank looks absolutely amazing. The prices can't be beat and how many individual stems are in a single bunch was astounding. I expected only like 4 stems based on when I've ordered bunches of plants from other sellers in the past. I'll definitely be ordering more from this seller in the future when I'm working on another tank setup. Edit for another order I've since placed, 10/10 plant quality. Ordered 2 bunches of Althernanthera broad leaf, got 12 stems. It's 21 degrees out right now. Little to no cold damage and nice established stems. All the leaves are likely to melt because they are emersed growth but I have zero concerns about the plants survival as a whole. If you're on a budget but still want top quality plants, this is absolutely the way to go. ... show more

    • Ordered twice and died both times leaving a huge mess in my tank.

I ordered this plant twice and both times it died and left a huge mess in my tank and filtration system. It was not cheap and having to clean up my tank and filtration system repeatedly, as the plant was shutting leaves until it was nothing, was highly annoying and time consuming. I later learned from a local fish store that when buying plants online you need to know how hard your local water is, and the water hardness of the place where your plants are being sold from. Apparently, if you put a plant that was raised in softer or neutral water into hard water it will cause damage to the plant. Some plants that are more sensitive to this will not make it, and they will die. I am guessing because they looked healthy when I put them in that it is because of this that the plants did not make it. However, this kind of information and knowledge should be clearly displayed with your products if you are selling aquatic plants, so that customers could be informed and knowledgeable about what choices they make. I gave this product to stars because it did come healthy, but there was no information displayed anywhere, explaining what water hardness can do to this product. ... show more

The plants did add vibrant color to my aquarium, but this batch arrived with snail eggs. I do know that this is a risk when purchasing live aquarium plants, but it was still disappointing to see. I purchased some loaches to take care of the snails, and we will see how that turns out.

The media could not be loaded. I ordered the Ludwigia Repens (4 lead bunches), and it arrived on time. The plant itself looks alive and healthy, with just a few dying leaves. I'll be rinsing them with my aquarium water to get rid of any foreign critters before acclimating it. What happens after depends on me and how well the plant will adapt to its new water parameters.
