  • Charming to look at, ideal practice, learning or sing-along piano
Size: Compact Color: Walnut Wood
The media could not be loaded. We already have a basic Casio keyboard used for learning piano, but this is a much, much better option. The weighting of the keys is very convincing, and obviously much closer than your average full plastic keyboard. It is of course the full 88 keys, and the timbre at upper and lower registers is well done. This may not be the rich detail offered by some more expensive options, but it sounds pretty convincing to me. If you do watch the video - note that I play a little (amateur) piece twice. In the first version you are hearing the Strich "Acoustic Grand Piano" and "Alto Sax" tones, as captured by one dynamic (SM57) and one condenser (cheap) microphone on each speaker, not the camera microphone. I did ZERO EQ or other processing on this in Logic, so understand that it could actually sound a lot better. There is a "Bright Acoustic Piano" as well if you want to hear more high frequencies. As it is it sounds very convincing as what I would call a "parlor" piano, and totally suitable for practice or a sing along. The second part, which is some software instruments fed by MIDI from the STRICH, is mainly to demonstrate that yes, the MIDI being sent includes velocity, so you will capture expression. There are a number (well, a lot actually) of your extra keyboard (and other) tones to play with, like on many all-purpose keyboards, so you can explore and be inspired by these. Multiple choices for some, including my go-tos of electric piano and organ. A pretty extensive set of rhythms as well. As for the looks - it fits right in to our decor, which features oak. I also think the form factor is great. It is just big enough to look like a piano, but has no additional bulk that might limit where you can put it. If you do wish to store it away at any point, note that unscrewing 16 screws will make it very compact for storage. It even has just enough space for me to park a mid-size laptop running some recording software on top :-) I am very pleased with this - I feel that options like the Strich SDP-300S will become the new type of family piano you find in many houses. No major hassle if you move, either! ... show more

  • Great keyboard
Size: Full Color: Color Walnut Grain
This is a great standard keyboard. It looks really nice with the dark wood and I love all the different options that come with a keyboard versus a traditional piano. The controls are a bit confusing as the button labels seem to correspond with the button below them although the text is closer to the button above it but maybe that’s just mine that got printed slightly upwards. Overall performs as I would expect and am looking forward to playing it regularly! Company is also very responsive which is a plus ... show more

  • Capable keyboard made for beginners
I was surprised at the overall quality and features of this Strich keyboard. The 61 full-size keys have the appropriate feel -- just the right "bounce" when touched. I didn't test each key with a tuner, but they do sound accurate and none seemed to be damaged or "off." The built-in speakers are fine, but you can add external ones for a better sound. Like many such keyboards, it comes crammed with effects: different voices, styles and rhythms. The basic user manual shows various chords and lists the voices, rhythms and demo sounds; it's a long list. I did not expect much from the keyboard at this price point, and several of the instrument voices don't sound realistic at all, especially the different guitars. But the actual keyboard instruments, such as the pianos and organs, sound good. The keyboard comes well-boxed and arrived with no damage or missing parts. Included is an AC plug-in charger, a small but adequate microphone, an attachable music stand, and a very basic Owner's Manual. There is no foot pedal and apparently no way to connect one to the keyboard. The manual includes several chord tables, but I was surprised that basic information -- like identifying the individual notes -- was missing. This is disappointing for an instrument aimed at beginners. There is also no songbook to show the melody and chords for simple, familiar songs. That is not a big problem, as many free or inexpensive books, websites, YouTube channels and phone apps are available to help a new learner start and progress. Despite the few shortcomings of this keyboard I recommend it for young children and even adults who have wanted to learn to play the piano. To get the most out of this instrument, I also recommend you find a good stand to place it on when playing and a padded case to store or carry it. These are also available on Amazon for a range of prices. Note: I am not sure if this same keyboard is still available on Amazon. When I search the site, I see a larger 88-key instrument. I got mine in early October 2023, with 61 keys. ... show more

  • Sounds like a keyboard, not a piano
Size: Full Color: Color Walnut Grain
The media could not be loaded. Was hopeful for this digital piano, it looks nice however the sound is tinny, “digital sounding” and some high notes are quite shrill (see my short video). Overall poor sound coming from this keyboard, returning it tomorrow.

  • You don’t always get what you pay for.
Size: Compact Color: Walnut Wood
So I’ve been playing this piano for approximately 2 1/2 weeks now and it plays very well. Well, the action on the keys is very realistic to an actual piano. The only negative I really have about this keyboard is the fact that the tones that it comes with There are 900 of them in reality there’s only 136 repeated a lot of the keys are not in correct pitch/tone which makes playing along with songs very difficult. I also purchased this keyboard under the impression that I was buying a hardwood, surrounded keyboard with stand in reality. It’s just paperboard and metal legs. ... show more
