I'd been going back and forth about buying this for almost a year (trying out numerous other options in the meantime...) FIRST, the unit seemed way more expensive than it needed to be. But, although I am not a GC, I do have some land and an old house, lots of decent-sized projects, and the hoe/wheelbarrow method was getting OLD (as am I....) so decided to throw fiscal caution to the wind and "add to cart." Anyway, mixing concrete and mortar with this manual mixer is far less work than (actually) manually mixing and--I don't know about 17 seconds--but I'll bet it's at least as quick as an electric mixer. It's well made (right down to the fasteners, powder-coating, beefy drum...), well designed, made in USA with recycled materials, the owner is a military veteran and I'm willing to gamble he's not driving around in an $80K pickup.... ... show more

Do not buy, that plastic is not strong enough and the plastic warped to where it will no long fit on the metal frame after mixing less than 11 bags of cement. It does not mix as shown, you have to lock it on the side and work it with a shovel or add about 50% more water then suggested which will effect the strength of the mix. The wood handle cut my hand because it formed a split as I was using it. This is honestly the most misreprecented item I have purchased in a long long time. ... show more

I like that I could mount it to a furniture dolly and move it to the pad location. Also, I attached a handle to the bottom that allowed me to lift the mixer off the stand and pour without shoveling. Every new sack of concrete is in a freshly rinsed out mixer. It's an art, not a science as to how much water to use, as the liquid level is by eye-sight. You can't really use a pre-measured amount of water, since you're rinsing the inside from the previous load. ... show more

Mixes well, but who the heck wants to dump concrete directly over where they mixed? This is dumb. Waste of money. Will be by trash can Sunday to trash as is not useful.

    • Super impressive
This little thing has changed the way we mix! Im a residential GC and we do quite a few off jobs where we have to pour pads for AC equipment, stair landing or small utility cuts. This mixer is the absolute business for bagged concrete! This weekend we did (45) 50lb bags in the mixer, two at a time with no issues. Build quality is pretty durable, think street trash can but with much thicker plastic, and the metal stand has no give to it, we stood on it 😅. Notes: -for anyone having difficulty, the motion is not just rocking the handles from side to side, you sort of have to jiggle/stutter it as you turn the mixer to the side to get the 'ball' being mixed to detach and fall. This is the folding action that actually does the vast majority of the work. Was able to mix 100lbs in about a minute of work using the methods described here. -get a bucket and use a line inside to keep track of how much water you use. After a couple of cycles it becomes easy to get perfect consistency every time! -We bolted ours about 8" up on a wooden box and put a sheet of plywood under it angled into our form. Was way easy to just dump it there and rake it down into our form. -definitely going to modify ours with a locking collar for the other side. Figuring out you put the mixer the wrong way to lock it while your first bags are mixed already is annoying..... Other than that, build quality is extremely stout. think like a street trash can but with maybe double the thickness to the plastic. ... show more

    • I Mix A lot of 80lb Bags!
Mixer works good when using the proper steps. I’m building a cabin and mixing 29 80Lb bags for the foundation piers and 30 60LB bags for the fireplace foundation and block. My main complaint is that it’s difficulty/awkward in picking up the bucket while loaded. There isn’t a good place to grab on the bottom, but I manage to do it. Over all I like the mixer and it’s pretty easy to get the hang of things. ... show more
