Description

Ok, I have several of the PM's 90's version of this as well as a toy box full of phasers, tricorders, communicators from several different companies. This is a worthy updated and improved version. Better sounds, better lights, better trigger, and slightly sleeker design. It has the short "stun" sound that the 90's version didn't have as well as the emitter lighting up blue and red from a bright LED depending on the sound. The 90's version was only a regular light bulb from ancient times. I know some complain about the many screws on one side but it's not really that big a deal. The updated improvements make up for it, imo. Overall, and terrific value. I got several units as they'll eventually be out of production. ... show more

Three settings. No voices from the crew. Solid build, and feels nice in hand. Waiting for Playmates to re-release the classic tricorder from TOS.

Not a truly accurate replica, but what do you want for the price? Worth every penny and looks good for a being a plastic toy. Just don't expect a true replica phazer.

Playmates did a great job with this Star Trek TOS Phaser. The paint details, lights, and sounds are very accurate. I brought it to a Trek convention and saw William Shatner. With this Phaser, the Playmates Star Trek TOS Communicator, and a cheap TOS uniform shirt, I was able to do Star Trek cosplay for less than $100. I had so much fun! Please make a TNG Phaser next! TOS and TNG Tricorders would be excellent as well. ... show more

    • More than I hoped for but less too
Okay. Ive had the bright blue and orange hand phaser for a while. It is the exact size and dimensions of a hand phaser from the original technical manual. It makes the phaser stream sound when you press the trigger. It is awesome, except its is white, sky blue and pastel orange. I got this one and it looks great at first. Then I pulled it out of the box and realized.... its a little small, like 96% the size of the technical manual diagram. Then I turn it around and there's a screw farm on the left side of it. NINE screws that... just ugly. My orange and blue one has three and it's perfectly sturdy. Then I see there's a power level knob. I turn it to Stun- it makes the stun sound and the tip lights up. Then I turn it again and it makes the kill sound. Then I turn it again and it makes the overload sound. I almost returned it over the wrong dimensions and screws on the side, but I decided to keep it. It's still really cool. ... show more

Great little replica! Fairly accurate in design and the sounds and lights are surprisingly good for the money. A little too lightweight, but that's OK. Like other reviewers said, I wish they had toys like this when I was a kid watching the original TV series!

    • Works and sounds exactly like on Star Trek
Works great once my friend figured out all the sound adjustments it has. I bought it for his birthday. Almost kept it lol. If I had known how great it was I may have and bought him something else and kept it. It’s on my list of future buys. If you’re a Star Trek fan buy it!
