    • Funny 'Star Trek.'!
If you love Season 1 of 'Star Trek: Lower Decks.' then I'm quite sure that if you haven't seen it yet, you'll love Season 2 even more. Unsurprisingly Season 2 looks and sounds just as good on blu ray as Season 1 does and I think that now that the characters and their relationships, which to the show's credit evolve a little this time around, are established, I think the stories are better in Season 2. Thankfully it seems very clear to me that the producers are taking this animated comedy version of 'Star Trek.' just as seriously as they are its live action siblings. As well as the same kind of modest but fun Special Features that are on the Season 1 blu ray, which I think are better on this release, we also finally get some much appreciated and very enjoyable and coherent audio commentaries. There really isn't much more for me to say except that if you love Season 1 of 'Star Trek: Lower Decks.' on blu ray, then you really shouldn't hesitate to buy Season 2. I can only hope that 'Star Trek: Lower Decks.' continues to go from strength to strength as it clearly has from Season 1 to Season 2, and runs and runs for years to come. Besides which; there has to at least be a Season 3 because Season 2 ends with the dreaded words 'To Be Continued...' emblazoned across the screen! I can't wait to see what happens to Captain Carol Freeman in Season 3! FORGET STREAMING AND KEEP PHYSICAL FORMATS LIKE BLU RAY ALIVE! ... show more

    • A Great Addition to “Star Trek” Fans’ Collections!
“Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 2” picks up shortly after the events of the first season, with the junior officers of the U.S.S. Cerritos continuing their scientific and second contact missions amid the ongoing conflict with the Packleds. Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) struggles as she misses her friend and finds the leniency of her mother, Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), unsettling; D’Vana Tendi (Noël Wells) worries about Rutherford following his near-death experience; and Sam Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) is trying to deal with his missing memories after having his cyborg implants reinstalled. Meanwhile, Lt. Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) is serving on the U.S.S. Titan under Captain William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and struggling with being on the frontlines of the conflict instead of engaging in the classic Trek-type adventures. Naturally, events transpire to reunite them with added references to TNG-era Trek stories. The season continues the humor of the first season with even more Easter eggs to previous incarnations of the “Star Trek” franchise. The Blu-ray collection is a great way for fans to add this to their physical media collection and includes bonus features such as an audio commentary, a breakdown of all the show’s Easter eggs, and animatics. ... show more

The only thing I don't like about this DVD is there is a cliffhanger leading into the third season. (I'll have to wait several months for that DVD to come out.) The humor is just as witty and there are so many Star Trek references it is almost as Star Trekie as Star Trek. This season there is more character development of the bridge crew without taking anything away from the lower decks. The stories are a good mix of drama and comedy. The animation continues to be superb and seamless. The soundtrack has some nice flashbacks. The extras include four commentaries, animatics, a look at easter eggs in each episode, and an in-depth look at Season Two. This DVD is worth an immediate re-watch. ... show more
