Installed on a new rebuild on 2005 Nissan 4.0L VQ40 for a Frontier Nismo. Included a nice gasket. After the new engine was put on the road it was noted that it was getting above normal temps at 55-65MPH. OBDII live data showed variance between 213-220 Deg. F depending on speeding up and slowing down. After some concern, the heater was turned on and it cooled down by about 2 degrees. Sitting idle, temps ranged from 208-213*F. Decided to do a stove-top test compared to an old OEM and new OEM part. Results were: "Stant" OEM 184 Closed began opening 190 Closed 1/16" open 195 Began opening 200 about 1/16" open over 1/8" open 205 about 1/8" open over 3.16" open To Stant's good name, I give them some benefit of the doubt that the product may have been a return as in someone sneaked an unused different brand into the original box, "returned" it, and it went back on Amazon's shelf. The picture shows what I received and has a "MotoRad" branding on the side of the thermostat. ... show more

I did not like the fact that the thermostat housing does not come with a gasket I guess I should have read the fine print other than that it appears to be functioning properly but does not come with a gasket

Although the thermostat fits, this is not the same design as OEM. OEM has a baffle and the opening on the OEM is larger. Could not figure out why 2010 Pathfinder was overheating. Couldn't be the new parts, right. Swapped out for a Nissan thermostat and has not overheated once.

In my headlong rush to tune my 350Z I installed a racing thermostat and the service engine light stays ON!!! The engine ECU map does not accommodate higher racing temps and the engine eats more gas as well as runs too cool. NOTE: if you ain't racing don't install a racing thermostat! Got this stant OEM replacement and got the engine back to normal. My other mods are great - and the Z kicks a... - Remeber - a racing thermostat is for consistent high temp not for a daily driver. Perfect fit. This part is all made together not like just a thermostat. I purchased 180 degree and replaced radiator. The engine light did come on and I checked it and the code said engine running to cool. I have not tried reset yet but it is running great now. Old thermostat hung up and it overheated causing the radiator to crack. ... show more
