Stainless Steel cleat Vine review. Brand: LIFESWELL. I am in the process of moving/mounting wall anchors for resistance bands. Essentially these are much like a boat cleat to secure boats to a pier. It is reportedly stainless steel and is narrow, but with turned down extensions. In this way it seems very safe to attach on walls where a passerby might risk impact with those other protruding anchors while not in use. (Besides being ugly! ;) While talking about these extensions, what can slip on and off the ends? This listing says 0.3” opening, so I took a standard bit from a 1/4 bit driver, and it does barely slide through. So your device must meet that 1/4” opening to use either turn down opening. Know that many in the USA will be installing these in a sheetrock wall, where the two holes are vertical and a skilled installer has a good chance of screwing both screws into the center of what is likely to be a pine stud. See photos. Caution: Many 4 screw anchors being sold here have almost no chance of 4 screws doing that. Hold any 2x4 edge up to them and see! Double studs are quite rare, most likely under a beam. This is a beefy 9 oz. weight, with a satisfying look and feel. They claim a 1000 lb. strength, but I don’t expect to be testing that. The two screws provided for each cleat are the weakest link, IMHO. As for going into wood, the threads are not coarse enough but for the hardest of wood, which will not be found in most wall studs. Ask a screw expert in person. My 3/16” Allen wrench. (5mm?) seems to fit the head decently. Of course it comes with a bit and Allen wrench, but years from now when you want to remove this, where will that bit be??? I would strongly consider what is doing the holding and possibly change the screws accordingly. (Or to bolts.) This is the same for any cleat or anchor you get. IMHO the provided screws are not the best for pine or cedar. Ask a screw expert in person. Another stainless steel cleat I evaluated here, by Kipika, was very, very, similar to these. It had a flat surface that was not pitted like these, the cleat weighed 11 oz, and were rated 2000 lbs. They might be made by the same company or come from the same building. Understand the pitting on these three is VERY minor, but on such a shiny flat surface up close it is easy to see. (NOTE: I can only rate the ones I got, I can’t be sure of what you get from either brand. ) The list price as I write this is very competitive to stainless steel wall anchors and cleats here. I am rating these a 3 star, given the that I rated the Kipika 4 star. Even if they do come off the same assembly line, I base this on looks and relying on the listing numbers of 1000 vs 2000 lbs. And it looks like they both need better screws for the average wall studs in the USA. Again ask a screw expert! And stainless steel screws are not cheap! Re photos: notice the comparison between the thicker Kipika cleat to the narrower Lifeswell. Also showing the pitting. Also with the along with concern that the provided screws might not be best for our wall studs. but I am not showing stainless steel screws, just the difference in the threads with some deck screws that I had. I ordered these expecting them to be adequate for casual use, but they are a lot bigger and heavier than they look in the pictures! They're not just suitable for casual stuff, but good for big dudes doing heavy work. The mounting hardware are massive 3 inch bolts. You could tie a horse to these things! I was super happy the drive bit came with them for installing. This isn't the kind of job you want to do with an allen wrench, and you don't have to. I've recommended these to the guys I work out with and they're also really impressed. If you want something strong enough to become a fixture in your home gym for a lifetime, look no further. They were easy to install with the help of my power driver and will last decades. ... show more

This piece is really solid. I appreciate that it came with the hardware needed, even an attachment to use with a drill for the screws. I was able to set it up drilling holes first and then using the provided screws. It’s holding up well and I’ve used it to mount a pulley system.
