  • Very cool camera
The camera is a little bit funky to set up as far as consumer products go, but once it is set up it works well. Essentially, you initially connect to it like it is a WIFI network with your phone, then connect to your actual wifi. Once that is done you add it in the app. It has a QR code printed on the camera itself which makes things easy if you have more than one to set up. The video quality is very good. Obviously the height of where it is plugged in matters a lot but it does have good field of view. It won't have audio if you watch recorded video on your phone, but the microSD card (if you use one) will contain audio. The audio triggers for the motion detection work very well. My tests proved it could hear around nearby corners quite well, which would activate the video capture to begin even before visible motion could be seen. Physically, I wish the cameras were white not black since most electrical outlets in the USA are white and this would help the camera blend in more. The software is clearly still being actively developed which is good too from a customer service standpoint. But sometimes you bump into things that are still being worked on. Notification System =============== The notifications work purely via the LookCamPro app itself not via text. Additionally, tapping a notification when it pops up only opens the app, not the specific camera that triggered it. Since it doesn't open that particular camera, it also does it open the live video feed showing what is happening in the triggered area. It might be recording to the optionally installed (but not included) micro SSD, but it definitely isn't recording to your phone automatically. Notifications tended to arrive in batches, so they use some sort of queueing system on the back end. I would usually get multiple notices for the same camera within a few seconds when using the default settings. Notifications currently do not auto-download a thumbnail of the triggered event. So, if you get multiple triggers you'll have a list of generic icons with timestamps that you have to open each one until you find what you're looking for. Notifications themselves can be shared from within the app and come with a photograph of the triggered area. The moment you tap on the notification to view it, it now has a relevant thumbnail. Suggestion for developer: -- Make the notification tap deep-link to the camera feed and begin recording to the phone automatically upon tapping the notification. -- Make the notification pushes happen more frequently on the corporate back end to separate them better for the consumer user experience. Naming the cameras ================ Apparently naming the camera something other than the default of "Camera" can only be done during initial setup. It is not a Settings option afterward. This is a portable camera and re-naming it should be just as easy as moving it room to room. "Living Room" should be easily changed to "Kitchen" or whatever. There is a very short character count available on the names, too. The cameras DO support passwords which is good. Sharing the cameras =================== There is a function that allows the app (call them User#1) to share the camera feed using the QR code to others on their phones. This appears to be in-person only, not via SMS or a link. Again, clicking the QR code from User#1 screen does not deep-link to bring User#2 to download the app & auto-add the camera to User#2 camera list. But it does remember the camera alphanumeric ID. Cloud storage =========== There is an option for it, but I don't see how it works yet. More info as I encounter it ===================== I'll edit the review when I have had more real-world experience with the cameras and not just testing at home. ... show more

  • Works well
No issues with it. Don't get alerts unless I have the app open in the background

  • Almost a good product
This camera is frustrating in that with just a few improvements it would be a good product but instead I have to return it. The manual it comes with is very small with no link to a PDF. I called the number on the manual with no answer but sent an immediate text to send my question. I did that but they never answered. Second, the app you use to control the camera is just simply frustrating and hard to understand. I've just given up. ... show more

  • First impression: Good quality is possible with good lighting
Last night I set up my WEMLB USB Charger camera. This morning I decided to see what it has recorded so far. Apparently, it recorded blackness all night, even though there was no activity for it to record. After copying the video files to my Chromebook, I went into the setting again to try to have it set to record only when motion is detected. It does a great job recording still objects. For me, every other frame seems to be good, and the alternate frames are a bit blurry. Interesting. So, that my first impression of this hidden camera. USB Charger cameras do NOT have infrared lights to see in the dark, as that would give away that you have a hidden camera inside. As with all cameras I have tested so far, the best recordings are from more light being near the camera, than on the other side of the room. This USB Charger camera is not plug-and-play. I took hours to figure out how to get the device to work, even following the instructions exactly. The device recorded May 16, 17, and 18th, and then the time went to 20:00 and the device stopped recording. So I'm missing May 19 - 22. Today, I signed into it again, and now it is recording again. I also noticed that the device's night vision is on or off, and the automatic mode does not work. I noticed that both devices rely on a wifi signal and a tablet program to be set up. Both tablets were off. Odd. ... show more

  • Great reliable, covert camera
Overall, for a small unit that is covert, this is a great buy. I was concerned at first about there being a light on the entire time it’s plugged in, but upon initial set, I found that you can turn the indicator light on/off remotely from your app on the phone. The set up is straight forward - I will say however the instruction pamphlet included - fits within the box it’s shipped in which means it is super small if you are visually challenged! I had to wear my glasses and turn on the lights to read/see the text and snapshot photos they provide explaining the unit and the app. It is thorough however—just printed to a small scale. At first it was hard to follow once unfolded...I suggest you first read the entire instructions page FIRST, to figure out where to start with setup. (There’s are sequential steps, but they jump around, based on the function you want and the steps refer to instructions - that assume YOU READ THE ENTIRE THING FIRST). So read it thoroughly and then begin the setup steps. They provide QR code’s on the instructions that play videos to show you that step too. That’s super helpful for people who may be more visual. It takes patience to 1) download 2) discover and set up the camera setting within the app. It says to wait a few minutes - be patient and wait. If you READ THE ENTIRE INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR to setup...you’ll save yourself confusion and frustration if you’re terrible with tech setup. Once I setup the camera settings (network/ notifications/ night mode/ motion sensor, etc) and the microSD (not included) testing the camera was simple. The picture looks great for being a tiny camera in a socket plug! It’s about the quality of older cellular camera phones. I can clearly see the image the camera is pointed. The motion detection has 3 settings (low/med/high) - this is the sensitivity detection. I initially set on HIGH - and was getting push notifications everytime I moved slightly! So I reduced it down to medium. I got this to watch my dog while I’m out and also for outside contractor maintenance repairs within the house. I’m happy with the choice! ... show more
