  • very solid construction; works great; outstanding customer service
Size: 3" Medium Color: Black
I purchased this Spring Chef dough blender to replace an old hoop one for one specific purpose: making biscuits from scratch. Trying to blend partially frozen cubes of butter with flour using my old hoop dough blender was an experience in frustration as the metal loops would separate. Not so with this Spring Chef blender. The thing is built like a tank with a very solid feel to it. The blades of the blender are not sharp, but they are designed such that they easily cut into frozen butter and blend well without bending a bit. The handle has a cushioned feel to it, which is also a big improvement over my old tool that had a wooden handle. My only complaint is the handle on this blender is a little small for my adult male hand. It would have been perfect if the handle was about a half inch longer. Even still, it is a marked improvement over my old dough blender, and I highly recommend it. Spring Chef does sell a larger model, which I did not know when I purchased this medium size one, so if you have large hands you may want to look at their larger model which is available on the Spring Chef web site if Amazon doesn't have it. Now a word about customer service. After I purchased my dough blender I got an email from one of the co-founders at Spring Chef asking how I liked it. I wrote back pretty much what I said in my initial review above. I did not ask for anything and simply offered my opinion about the product. He immediately sent me an email back stating he would send me the larger blender, which he did. He wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. Now you just cannot beat that level of customer service, and that is precisely why I ended up buying a new Spring Chef box grater shortly afterward and will check Spring Chef before I buy any other items for cooking. So here is the comparison of the two dough blenders. Dimensionally, the medium dough blender measures approximately 4-1/2 inches from the back of the handle to the furthest tip of the blade; the large dough blender measures 5-1/4 inches in the same dimension. The length of the handle on the medium blender measures approximately 3-1/8 inches in length across the outside (3 inches in length inside the handle); the larger blender handle measures 4-3/4 inches across the outside (4-3/8 inches inside the handle). So the larger blender not only has a larger handle, which makes for a far more comfortable grip in my situation, but it also is larger in blade size, too. I have posted pictures to compare the two side by side (that’s not rust on the blades, it is reflection of our pot rack from above). In summary, both the medium and large Spring Chef dough blenders are built very solidly and work extremely well. If you have smaller hands, or need to blend dough in a small bowl, the medium sized blender may work well for you. But I suspect most people will find the large dough blender to be more comfortable to use, especially if you have large hands. Regardless of which one you buy, you can rest assured Spring Chef stands behind the quality of their products and wants you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. ... show more

  • Finally the perfect pastry cutter!
Size: 4" Large Color: Black
I'd been looking for one of these for a long while, and kept getting some with flimsy wires that just didn't work very well, got the butter all glommed up instead of crisply chopped. This is perfect, solid handle, sturdy blades, a joy to use and easy to clean. Get one!

  • Great pastry knife.
Size: 4" Large Color: Blue (Aqua Sky)
Easy grip handle. Bigger than my old one. And does what it’s supposed to do blend shortening into flour.

  • Pay Attention to SIZE and BURRS
Size: 3" Medium Color: Black
SIZE, I ordered this without paying close attention to size. Im 6'2" not a huge person just average. I received the "medium". Well its for a very small person and or a very small batch of whatever. As you can see in the photos the medium is made for real small hands. GET THE LARGE. AS FOR CONSTRUCTION. Its strong and appropriate gauge steel. It is a punch stamped item. That process typically leaves a burr. Which is the case here. That burr is located on each edge of each blade same side. A fit and finish issue. Think what makes a knife sharp. Do not firmly run your sponge/finger laterally across the burr you will likely get a cut. Minor but inconvenient So careful while cleaning or file those burrs flat and smooth. I disappointedly find this to be the norm in mass produced stamped metal. I do like the overall sturdiness so I will be getting the large and doing some tool clean up. Its a shame that a simple finish step like "good" deburring by a human is so hard to find. That burr is NOT needed on this kitchen tool. ... show more

Great pastry cutter. It’s sturdy and cuts cold butter into pea size pieces for baking pastries and other sweet recipes. I also like to use it to crush bananas for desserts. Dishwasher safe. • Perfect sturdy
Size: 3" Medium Color: Black
I had one that was my mom’s. After 40 years it broke. So saw this decided to give it a try. So far so good I use it when making deviled eggs it works great on the cooked egg yokes. Much easier than a blender. This one appears solid so hopefully it will outlast me.

  • Great for a Smaller Hand
Size: 3" Medium Color: Black
This is the perfect size for a smaller hand. The larger dough blenders are so wide, that they are uncomfortable for smaller hands. This allows for more control in cutting butter into flour, and results in time savings. My biscuits have never been fluffier or more tender. Excellent product that works well and cleans up easily. ... show more
