  • Pretty Good, If You Have Land
Size: Medium/Verizon
3wk review: This collar is a bit pricey and I had high expectations going into it. It has delivered, for the most part on those expectations. The build quality of the collar is very good. I isn't a chew toy, but it'll hold up to the abuse most dogs would put it through. It's supposedly water proof (I'll come back to that) and appropriately rugged. That said, it's not the most attractive thing. The accuracy is quite good, but we live on 7 acres. Set your expectations appropriately. I'd say you can draw a boundary with about a 10' confidence range. I don't think this would be an appropriate solution for a yard under an acre honestly. At that point a traditional wire fence is probably cheaper as well. Battery life - we get about a day. It goes on him in the morning and lasts until we go to bed. 7am to 10pm. He's a very active dog and is in and outside all day long. Cellular notifications - this is where I'm not sure it's worth the money. The $6 a month subscription plan gives you real time access to the dogs location. It's not super responsive or accurate. It does alert you when the dog leaves the zone, which for the first few days will likely be often. After about day 4 he never tried to leave again. Given how laggy this is and how well the geo fence works I don't see the value here unless you have a huge property and can't quickly or easily find your dog via a vocal recall. Customer support - unfortunately we did have a defective collar. We didn't realize it at first but the water seal was broken and after a quick play on our lake the collar died. I hopped on their support chat and had a it triaged and a new collar coming in about 30min. They even next day aired it. When the new collar came I wasn't sure how to set it up on our account and again very quick response and it was all set. I'll take good customer service like this any day. Final thoughts: It's not perfect but for a large property this is really a set and forget collar. We've found it to be reliable and consistent enough that our dog learned it quickly and we no longer worry about him escaping. I don't think I'll be using the cellular plan once my free year expires, but for some it may make sense. Expensive, but it was fast to setup and it works well. If anything changes in the months to come I'll update this review. Last updated April of 2024 with 3wks ownership. ... show more

  • Failed experiment
Size: Large/AT&T
This has been the worse shock collar ever. Our dog walks out of the barrier not even fazed by the shock, even with his thick fur and us using the extended probes for thick fur use. This sounds terrible, but when the dog passes the shock barrier and he keeps walking away, the shock needs to last more than 1 second. Our chow chow knows that if he runs straight through the electric fence, he only experiences the shock for that 1 second and he can be free. The shock collar did work for a while but he's outsmarted it. The collar is being used as a GPS collar now. Pro: works with a younger dog, water proof, fast chaging, easy to setup Con: smarter dogs learn how to escape, shock is not as strong, gps is too buggy and requires clear skys because even though it tells you the signal is good it could take 2 minutes for the app to give you accurate location. Subscription for live tracking is the same way, the real time tracker for when he escapes will tell you the exact spot he's in, until the gps loses track of the signal, then you're just sitting at the spot where your dog should be but no where to be found.... until the signal reconnects with the satellite. I think I will purchase a manual shock collar. Edit: this thing has randomly shocked our dog, even while inside of the fence. I know there can be satellite drift, but we extended the fence quite far to prevent this and it has still done it ... show more

  • Works as it should...for a little while
Size: Large/Verizon
Update: After 5 months the collar no longer works at all. Won't pick up a signal in areas where it worked well in the beginning. We had purchased a 2nd collar and our dog lost it within a month because the clasp to hold the collar on the dog breaks very easily. Worked well in the beginning, but can't justify $1000 for something that lasts less than 6 months. I was reluctant to spend this amount of money given the bad reviews, but it has worked for us. We've been using it about 3 weeks now. We have about 80 acres and this allows our St. Bernard to run like she wants to without going over to the neighbor's. At first she didn't respect the boundaries, but once I turned up the static correction she quickly figured it out. I signed up for the monthly subscription which is really nice in the beginning because it alerts you if she goes out of the boundaries and then you can track where she is. I probably will not keep the subscription for a whole year though. I charge the collar overnight which of course I wish I didn't have to do, so that is why I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars. ... show more

  • LIFE CHANGING PRODUCT! 10000/10!
Size: Large/Verizon
We absolutely LOVE this system! We have a registered Great Pyrenees who is a livestock guardian. Very thick fur and stubborn personality, in true GP fashion. SpotOn on has not only given Rebel more freedom, but has given our family freedom as well. We had planned a vacation out west but were hesitant due to worrying about leaving our dog. Boarding isn’t an option as he has a job on the farm. We were hesitant about wireless collars due to most do not work well with Great Pyrenees because of their thick fur and ability to ignore the static correction. This system has a higher level of static correction options and the GPS tracking made it worth a shot. I am so glad we did! It has changed our lives and that is no exaggeration! Thanks to SpotOn, Rebel stays safe and I can check in on him whenever and wherever we may be. The prongs stay in place and the static correction levels fit his needs. The system setup is very simple and collar is super durable. Rebel roams our thick woods, valleys and hollers through the night and we can always track him without any issues. Thanks to SpotOn, I feel my dog is safe and I know I can check in on him at anytime. I am so glad we made this purchase and we could NOT go without it! As a Great Pyrenees mom, I HIGHLY APPROVE & recommend this system! We are so thankful that we have found something that works for him and us! 100000/10!⭐️ ... show more
