Items do come in 4 boxes. My gym arrived in 3 separate deliveries over a 4 day span. 2 boxes do look the same as they are the boxes with the weights but are marked differently. Assembly took me 2.5 hours with the “help” of my twin 8 year old boys. This could be done quicker but I opened everything in my carport and took each step into my room as I progressed. Parts are nicely marked by steps taken. Even the screws are separated by steps which is nice. The images could be a little more clear on some parts but it’s not too difficult to figure out what they are trying to show you. When you get to the cables it’s seems overwhelming but it was fairly easy. I installed all pulleys but didn’t tighten them until I got the cable in place. You can run the cable end if you remove the nut through most pulleys. The only pulleys you had to install after the cable is ran in place, were the ones on the back side of the backrest. It seems to be pretty sturdy, though time will tell. All in all, pretty good for $400. ... show more

I love this setup. It gives me so many options to workout different muscles. Putting it together took us a couple hours over a few days. But the instructions are pretty clear. I just wish the writing was a bit bigger. There were times when the instructions were a bit hard to understand (when putting together the ropes/pulleys) bc I needed a better picture than the illustration provided, but I was able to check out the other reviews with pictures to figure it out. Worth it for the price. My son, who is a 15 year personal trainer, approves. Things operate smoothly. We recently moved, and decided not to take the old gym to new house. But, the old gym was much more solid, probably weighed twice as much (not counting the weights). The old one was about 30 years old, and of professional quality...not needed for a home gym, but nice. My wife uses this new one regularly. She likes it. Assembly wasn't bad, but find a video showing how to do it, the included instructions are hard to read. ... show more

I gave this item one star because of the product shipping and manufacturing. The product comes in four boxes. The assembly takes up to 4 hours to build at a normal pace. After assembling my universal gym, the top weigh did not sit correctly in its channel. I reviewed the instructions and watch several videos and realized that I did assemble the gym correctly. I then looked at the parts list and realized that one of the cables was shorter than the other cables causing the primary weight to sit high. By the weight sitting high the pin used for the other weights doesn’t align with them.(see photo)I tried contacting the manufacturer and they are basically non existent. I then contacted Amazon, after several emails and days pass, Amazon decided to send me a new gym where I could remove the cables and then sending the boxes back to them. Well a week later I received the new boxes and found that the cables and other hardware was missing. So the shipment was useless, and then I just got tired of the constant phone calls. Since I’m a retired aircraft mechanic, I manufactured a part that extends the cables without intrusion. The gym now works correctly. I sent all the boxes back to Amazon as agreed. My advice to anyone buying this product is, the gym is made in China and distributed by company here in the states, a company that doesn’t answer phone calls, has ghost emails and basically tries to make your life difficult. They have a lifetime warranty, but what good is it if you can’t even buy parts for the gym. Amazon is the middleman here and they were as frustrated as I was with this company. They tried their best. Then a week later I get a weird email from the company stating that the part I was requesting is not in stock and they do not know when they can ship it. Once built the gym is nice but do you really want to go through all the trouble that I went through, it’s up to you. ... show more

I highly recommend this home multifunction gym. I purchased it about 4 weeks ago. There was a minor issue with a pulley and one bar that was quickly resolved to my complete satisfaction, no questions asked. I have been using it 6 days a week and loving it! It allows me to quickly change from one exercise to another. Quality is very good, it is very stable and feels solid. Assembly was very easy and well thought out. It took me a few hours to assembly by myself. Watch the videos, they explain it well. All the parts are identified (small parts grouped/shrink wrapped) by step, so you know exactly what part you need and when.     • Poor construction, not sturdy, cables are a mess
I really wanted this home gym system to be good. Felt I read enough reviews on Amazon as well as other sites but sadly was not the case. Instruction manual is useless, thank god for the video. And even that tends to skip over some crucial moments. Center piece of the system is flimsy and doesn't distribute the weight well causing it to buck around when using. Pole that runs down the center of weight stack is too short so when you lift low weights and pull cable for longer extensions the pole comes out of the weight stack and gets caught at the top causing the cables to jam. Cables often get jammed even after adjustments. Seat bottom not being adjustable is a real bummer - especially since the arm extensions ride a little bit high. Also no flex neck on the preacher extension is disappointing. Also found that contrary to the manual or video, putting a washer on each side, 1 for the bolt, 1 for the nut seems to allow the wheels to turn better than both washers on one side. ... show more
