  • Krill Oil in Lieu of Omega 3 Fish Oil
Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
This review is for Pure Antarctic Krill Oil with Astaxanthin; Double-Strength with 1000mg of Superba® Antarctic Krill Oil (Double-Strength) 1000mg per softgel; Contains the Highest levels of Omega-3s, Phospholipids and Astaxanthin; 60 Liquid Softgels - 2 Month Supply! Why I chose Krill oil over Omega 3... I did so based on research online indicating that krill oil absorbs better than fish oil. I have borderline high cholesterol and am trying to manage it via exercise, natural supplements, and diet in lieu of taking statins. Why I chose Sports Research brand... Great reviews on Amazon. I usually spend hours trying to find the "perfect" product, whether it be supplements, electronics, furniture, really anything. Every time I purchase a highly rated product on Amazon, I have always been satisfied -- so this time I saved myself hours of research and just chose a highest rated product - which happens to be from Sports Research. Also that you only have to take one capsule/day vs. multiple with other brands. Only been using a couple of days but here is my first reaction: 1. These pills do stink badly like many people have posted. Only noticeable once you remove the wrapper. Initially I put them in my cabinet with other supplements, but it stunk up my cabinet. So I tried putting bottle in plastic bag. That helped, but still not adequate so I am storing the bag on my counter. 2. Although they do stink, I do not believe mine are rancid -- or at least I have not had any side effects. I take 1/day with meals as directed. 3. I've not experienced any fishy after taste 4. Personally I have no problems swallowing them, but they may be considered large by some people. Particularly those who have trouble swallowing larger pills. They are 1" long and 3/8" wide. The exterior coating is slick, so they go down easy. Put fluid in mouth, tilt head back, drop in pill, swallow. Other reviewer complaints about product X being better that Sport Research Krill Oil... I don't understand reviewers who give products bad ratings because they find a product from a different manufacturer they feel has a better mix of ingredients that what they purchased. I think it is great they continue to comparison shop, but don't agree with rating a product poorly because they didn't do their homework prior to hitting the "Add to Cart" button. Example: Some have complained about fact this product contains Vanillin while the label states "...formulated without artificial ingredients." Google Vanillin and you will see that it is in fact synthetic, not natural. So part of the label can be misleading. However, clear images of the product lables are posted so potential buyers can in fact see this prior to purchasing. Note: Compare this to many product that show one image of the bottle and no other details. I'll update my experience once I finish the first bottle. ... show more

  • Excellent Product & Superb Quality
Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
I was very happy with the Sports Research Superba Krill Oil. I have used the major "RED" brand and several different brands and this by far exceeds them all in price and quality. The Liquid Softgels are truly 1000 MG in each. Some brands of different supplements, including Krill Oil, advertise a certain MG level but don't state that you must take multiple doses to reach that MG level. Not so with this brand. It says 1000 MG and you get 1000 MG. Also, they arrived in excellent condition. I have ordered some which have arrived with open or crushed softgels and Krill Oil loose in the bottle. These were in excellent shape. I cannot take fish oil, even the "Enteric Coated" brands, due to the "Fish Burps" which always follow. Most brands of Krill Oil have not affected me in this way and this brand has been very pleasant in this respect - NO FISH BURPS. Why am I writing this review? Because I had a real problem with Cholesterol. I actually was put on Statin drugs for a very brief period. Each drug caused immediate leg problems and when I reported it to the doctor, he would change to the next Statin drug. After the second change I began my research and discovered a myriad of information on Fish Oil, Krill Oil, and Red Yeast Rice. I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I did my own personal research. I found I could not take Fish Oil and Krill Oil seemed to produce better results anyway. I started my regimen of Krill Oil and Red Yeast Rice results according to the doctor were "Amazing". He told me to keep doing what I was doing. My LDL, Triglycerides and Total Cholesterol all went down significantly. My HDL went up. I have the Lab reports to prove it. I am not going to say the exact numbers because each person is different and it may or may not work for you. I just know what worked for me, and has continued to work for 4 years. NO STATIN DRUGS FOR ME. Do your own research and see what is best for you, personally. I've found what works for me and I've found the best & most convenient place to purchase is Amazon. The best brand of Krill Oil for me is Sports Research Antarctic Krill Oil. ... show more
