Description

The SportDOG Brand Field Trainer 425X is our smallest and lightest shock collar built for in-the-field training or hunting with close working dogs. Consistency and perfect timing are critical to developing your sporting dog, so the remote is quickly and easily operated without having to look at it - which lets you focus on your dog and not your equipment. With only a slight movement of the dial and the push of a button, you will be able to deliver a tone, vibration, or one of the 21 levels of shock. Use these stimulation types to communicate with up to 3 dogs (with purchase of Add-A-Dog collars) out to 500 yards with any of the 425 models.

  • Really like this e collar
Size: 1 Dog Stubborn Color: Black
This collar works great and is very easy to use. I bought different prongs for it as my german shepherd has alot of hair around his neck. Over all a very very good collar. I use for all 3 of my german shepherd's. And it's fits all sizes due to it being very adjustable. Battery last a long time. It could be used for barking dogs as well. Doesn't slip and the vibration level goes from 1 to 8. ... show more

  • 2 years and three dogs later, still the BEST.
Size: 1 Dog Color: Black
I HIGHLY recommend this for dogs that are off leash or training. I have used it on my two border collies and now my yellow lab 10month pup. I have never used it higher than level 3 setting and use the “beeping” option usually. I have honestly cried tears of joy because of how it instantly helped train “non desired” habits out of my dogs and just made training 100% better and more enjoyable. Buy it, worth the price. And I rarely have to charge it. 2 years later! Came back to right a review because I love it so much. ... show more

  • Barking Chasing STOPPED
Size: 1 Dog Stubborn Color: Black
SportDOG 425 remote w ecollar: We had serious problem with our male Golden Retriever climbing wooden post bean 6’ tall fence surrounds entire acre of our property; nearly getting over barking insanely at every dog walker, UPS truck, garbage truck every day. The sound of anyone talking, the grind of any delivery vehicles set him into an uncontrolled barking frenzy running at fences to get at anyone in his area. Screaming at him, yelling no, leave it or home, come to return, no effect. We had to use new training method, it was out of control. The thought of shocking our Golden made us cringe. But, we put on the collar read many owners standards of use; magic, worked 100% eliminating all bad behaviors less than 2 weeks. Bit confusing on setting remote; with all options. Read instructions to only set collar on buzz or what we call mild shock. Try it on your hand. This is not abuse in the least but mild current alerts dog, no, stop bad behavior. Once he gets the buzz, an impression is imprinted almost permanently, no. Here is what we recommend: Set the rotating dial on the remote control to 2 on dial only on shock. Charge both collar; remote before use. May think collar is not working if you do not each time put on the collar on pressing middle inside center of collar to activate the collar. Keep the collar fastened on dogs neck fairly tight so sits /right under his chin about as high up on his neck as you can go toward the ears. On crazy behavior, chasing, non stop barking, heel, growling with attack mode, start dial on remote dial at 2. 2 buttons on remote center right one above one another. Lower button delivers milder shock. When see dogs behavior in any crazy state 1st press once/twice sharply twice on lower button; say no home to come back to you. If lower button does not work, press higher of 2 buttons on remote, once, twice sharply; say no, home come back to me. If you see you dog is not responding to the setting at 2 on dial move to 3 on remote dial; same instructions, press buttons as above; if does not work, turn dial to 4; Upon bad behavior press again sharply on lower or upper button quickly with same command, no come, home whatever bad behavior requires to follow the command. Only once did we have to resort to 3rd /button located on the side of the remote. You press; hold 2-3 seconds that sends steady shock at the dog. On this level or on any #4 press, our dog, spins quickly; heads back on any command in an instant but we only used #4 at stopping serious bad behavior, roaming our property; heading toward a coyote or chasing a skunk. After a week or so all we had to do was not press the buzzer on remote at all but yell the commands upon bad behavior as dog knows the buzz might come; he gets it coming with no remote to buzz. Dog will be imprinted if you are patient. The selection noted above used on chasing barking to correct. Most of all, reward him each time he comes back after a buzz to correct bad behavior with multiple good boys; a treat. He will get it. Charging both remote and collar lasts couple of days. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Simple. Effective. Lacking in Some Areas.
Size: 1 Dog Stubborn Color: Black
I have been searching for a well balanced e-collar to add an additional level of training for my dog, especially for off leash work where I am attempting to move away from long leash training and still make my dog accountable for obedience. This collar is wonderful; I want to start with that right off the bat. I had originally tried the 425X model and then switched to the 425XS model after I noticed that my dog had no reaction to the max output on the 425X, so I tried the "stubborn dog" version. It most definitely works and gets his attention. However, that's the issue, is it is too strong. This e-collar sits at a middle of the pack price range compared to more expensive options like the mini educator and dogtra offerings and as such has some downsides. The only downside really in my opinion though, is the lack of true range. This collar only has 21 different "power levels" when on the low, medium, or high mode set on the actual collar. When compared to other brands which have over 100 settings often, this model can seem lacking. Ultimately, this collar did not work for my dog and my needs as a trainer. I find myself looking for something with more sensitivity adjustment to really work with my dog. As the manual for these say, you DO NOT want to be stimming your dog so hard they are in pain or uncomfortable. The goal is to get their attention using the bare minimum and to save the real high intensity modes for moments when they are extremely distracted. These are built well and seem like they would've lasted for a few years of heavy use. Easy and simple to use, three buttons for three powers, and a physical dial to switch between the varying intensities. Decent battery life and good signal between collar and controller. I say try this if you are curious or thinking of e-collar training and see if it works with your specific dog. For many, this will serve just as well as a $200+ e-collar. ... show more
