  • Programming and browsing functions is a breeze. And the look is cool and updated too.
My last transmitter was a DX9, was getting old. I needed to replace it with an updated version and not having to break the bank. The IX14 was the perfect choice. I have now an updated looking transmitter with 14 fully programmable channels available. with so many new features and ways to access the functions. Those guys did a really good job. On top of that, it can be connected to any wifi, which I find very cool and useful at times. Some critics say it takes time to boot when first turned on, I don't consider it as a burden, as for any phone computer or connected device will take some time to boot and the cool thing is that once turned on, you can put it o sleep mode and won't have to wait for it while flying on an =d off during your day at the field. I love it and I recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade from an 8 or 9 channel transmitter. ... show more

  • What a radio!
This thing is a beast! Coming from a tx16x I missed the touch screen. Upgraded from nx8. So many features and after latest update, it's got 20 channels now.

  • Great radio
I'll try to keep this short. I ordered the IX14 to replace a DX 9. I figured I give the Android based radio a try since it has been around for a few years now. Plus Spektrum has stated to use Hall Effect gimbals. After much anticipation the radio arrived and initially I was over joyed, the radio seemed well built and felt nice in the hands. The gimbals were smooth. Then I turned it on. It booted up quickly and the Airware started fine. I noticed that the throttle wasn't reading zero at the lowest setting and it didn't read 100 at full throttle. So I thought that it just needed to be calibrated But I played with the programming a bit first to see how the set up process worked. I loaded a model from the BNF library, that's pretty slick. I decided to calibrate the radio based on the throttle stick not reading properly. Even after calibration the stick would never read 0 or 100. I thought maybe it had something to do with the model I was in from the BNF library so I added a new model once I did that I got a throttle high warning. When that happens a warning screen appears and I could never clear the screen or get back into the normal Airware screen. Basically the Airware locked up. So I returned the radio and now I'm on the fence on whether I will purchase another Spektrum radio IX14 or otherwise or try Futaba or something entirely different UPDATE: 21 Dec 23 Since initially submitting my review and UPS's failure to pick up the radio I decided to see if I could do something with this radio. After encountering the gimbal issue and not being able to access the AIrware I turned it on and for what ever reason the airware opened. The throttle gimbal was still not reading zero but wasn't high enough now to initiate the warning which was what originally prevented me from trying to troubleshoot. The IX 14 has adjustable gimbal travel via little switches above and below the gimbal all the way left for shorter travel and all the way right for full travel. After many attempts of adjustments and calibrations I was finally able to get the gimbals to read zero and 100. My suggestion is to watch westhobbiesrc youtube video on how to perform this adjustment before trying it. ... show more

  • Two defective iX14's in a row?
The media could not be loaded. Went looking for a radio to replace my Taranis 9D SE. Something more friendly for programing modern FBL heli systems. I was somewhat put off by the price for a mid range radio. Pulled the trigger anyways. Super stoked when Amazon delivered it. Opened her up and bam! Right stick has zero spring tension on the elev axis-see vid. Defective radio 1. Initiated the return and ordered radio #2. Few days later is shows up. Jump through the hoops and registered the radio, updated and started setting up some helis while waiting on a screen protector. Day or two later screen protector shows up so I install it. No matter what I did i could not get the protector to lay down without bubbles on the left side of the screen. Very unusual for me as I always get protectors to lay flat first try. Hmm ok, ordered another screen protector. Installed it and same result, left side will not lay flat w/o bubbles. Because Im a machinist I have very accurrate tools for checking how square or flat items are. My hunch was correct. The screen on the ix14 dips down, ie: is not flat on the left edge/side. Before ordering these screen protectors I noticed alor of negative comments about screen protectors on the ix14 not laying down properly without getting bubbles. Sorry guys, its not the screen protector. I was going to order radio #3 and noticed these are not available atm via Amazon, only a 3rd party seller Horizon. So there you go. This is my personal experience with 2 different Spektrum iX14 transmitters. ps: Something that really bothers me about this radio is the inability to loosen the springs on rud/elev/aileron. Springs are super tight and for the most part, unajustable because of design. ... show more
