  • I purchased this cold air intake for my 2013 Chevy Silverado, 1500
I wanted a cold air intake for my 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500. I heard that cold air intakes not only make the vehicle sound more tough kind of give it a rumble sound and also improve the gas mileage. It did both for me, I did not have it on my vehicle very long before I sold it however, it stayed on my vehicle when I did sell it. I would highly recommend this product. It was easy to install and also gave engine compartment a much cooler look than what the stock intake for these vehicles. I’m not sure if it fits any other years but I do know that it fits the 2013 Chevy Silverado helps with gas mileage gives it a better sound and also makes the engine compartment look much better. ... show more

It is a good product but the over all design is why I gave it 4 stars and not five. The intake looks great and the fit up was good. Instructions are easy to follow, but watch out for over tighten the clamps. I broke two of them installing. Instructons are great and show step by step photos. The baffle in the inside of the intake is the only thing I did not like. It takes the intake from a 4 inch tube to a 3 inch tube so it does not trip the MAF sensor. I get why you need it, but at the 3 inches I tend to believe it is the same air flow as the stock 4 inch tube with baffles. It does back the motor sound meaner. I can not feel any gains as far as power goes. Throttle response seems a little better, but it could me just getting on it a littke more. Lol. I have not driven it enough to see a gain in the mpg. Over all for the money I would say it is as good as the higher priced intakes. Nice touch and modified for the price. If you are buying any cai for performance or better mpg then I would save your money. All of them do not help that much on the newer vehicles as a stand alone mod. Just thought I would share this with everyone. ... show more

  • I AM a car guy so when I say that this was a very easy install, That might be bias
Hey all - First off, I AM a car guy so when I say that this was a very easy install, That might be bias. However, This was a very easy install. Now I am sure you have done some googling as to what is the best air intake for you and I can stop you here. This is not the "best bang for your buck". This is the best period. I've increased so far 1mpg (according to my display) so it will pay for itself in roughly 2 years based on that (Saying it is done climbing up in MPG). Additionally, It's made a much deeper throatier sound (Which is to be expected) But man, This is a massive difference in both engine sound and exhaust sound. Pros: very easy install better MPG better sound more horse power (Noticeable on my 2010 silverado 4.8) Cons: None so far ... show more

  • Easy install, noticeable throttle response and low end punch
Easy install, noticeable throttle response and low end punch. Definitely worth the money, gives the truck a throaty growl, combined the intake with a Jet performance chip, throttle body and spacer; truck gets on it now, my 5.3 liter Vortec has come alive. Best of all, they shipped my intake to CA where it is not carb exempt :) Thanks Amazon! ... show more

  • Unleash the power and ditch the plastic OEM intake!
This is the second Spectre Cold Air Intake I have purchased. First one was on a 2005 GMC Yukon and this one was on a 2013 Chevy Suburban. I just bought the Suburban and it felt like it had significantly less power than my 05. I noticed the 2013 has a mess of plastic crap for the air intake. I followed the instructions, which are ok, and had it installed in less than an hour. My biggest complaint is the 45 degree rubber piece you attach to the intake. The clamp is larger than the amount of rubber you are covering it with, so you need to make sure the seal is tight. After I I stalled it I decided to take it on the road. Wow! It's like someone just bolted on 30+ HP. Prior to installing, there was no way you could spin the tires on drive payment. Now, they slip slightly and you can feel the power. Next on the list is dual exhaust, which will help a little as well. The quality of the product is good. I've had my other one for 4 years and cleaned the filter once. Don't buy this for gas mileage, because it must likely won't make it any better, but it will give you the power you want. ... show more

  • Install for a 2010 Silverado
Ok before you do anything, wear gloves. That long tube is razor thin at the ends, and pushing the rubber pieces over its ends will cause your fingers some pain and you could cut yourself. OK so don't believe all that about mileage/horsepower increases because you just won't see it. We don't drive these trucks on a dragstrip so don't kid yourself, you won't notice a difference. I knew that going in but I bought this because the low price. OK, it's priced low for a reason, and that reason is the shoddy fittings and adapters that connect the tube to the air filter and the throttle body. But here's the thing, I wanted this because I love hearing that v8 growl. Well you won't get it if you follow the install guide. It's barely louder than stock, so here's a tip. Throw out that rubber strip they tell you to put on the edge of the shroud. That thing just seals in the noise you thought you'd get. I removed mine and it's noticeably louder but still not enough. I'm eventually going to put some holes in that shroud to let more noise in the engine bay. Maybe I'll post an update ... show more
