This really is the BEST desk EVER!!! It came beautifully and intricately packaged. All the parts were there, even all of the small screws, pegs, etc. The instructions are VERY clear and easy to follow. You can tell that a lot of care was put into writing the directions (complete with pictures of every piece used and of every step). These are not some "made in China" directions that are in a million other languages, apart from English. This might be a pressed-wood, DIY construction item, but it looks like a showroom-quality piece! I like assembling furniture, so I found putting the desk together fun; like Legos. The whole piece is connected with those metal disks and metal pegs. Not sure of the correct terminology, but anyone who's put furniture together will know what I mean. The metal disks set into pre-drilled holes then a peg is placed in another smaller whole in a corresponding piece. The two are fitted together and the metal disk is screwed into place to tighten the bond. Oh, and the doors are held closed by magnets. Very nice touch. The whole piece in general was very well designed and thought out. If I could design a desk for myself, it would be THIS desk! There were no damages to any of the pieces. The doors did come with the decorative grooves intact. The hardware is not cheap looking or flimsy. The middle drawer, on the metal gliders, is so smooth and sturdy and glides quietly. The actual desk surface is HUGE!!! I big upgrade for me. It's great for spreading out work/homework papers next to your laptop or even spreading out an entire craft project. The height is perfect for standing at or sitting at and the leg room underneath is massive. I can really stretch my legs out. I could never do that before. The finish is also very pretty. It a matte/shiny finish. It may be a large desk for my space, but it doesn't overpower the room with its presence. It's large, but petite and contained. You will be blown away with all that you can fit onto all of the shelves and into all of the cubby spaces. I bought this desk because It's like a desk and bookcase in one! I had a large vanity with 4 deep drawers. I never thought I'd find a desk that could hold everything that vanity did. However, this desk was perfect and can hold even more. I have room to spare. None of my belongings are crammed in either. I'm a bit of a neat freak so it's nice to have a place for everything and everything in its place. I fell in love with the look and functionality of this desk from the moment I saw it on Amazon. I read the only review (at the time) about the doors missing the decorative grooves. I totally ignored that review because it was said that the company did send the replacement doors. That shows great integrity from a company. I knew I wouldn't have any problems. I did have a little hiccup with my original order, to where I had to refuse delivery based on the package being compromised. But South Shore has been there for me every step of the way. They have very professional, understanding representatives that have been very prompt with emailing me and on top of my order and the replacement. It was their wonderful customer service that sold me on getting a dresser manufactured by them as well. South Shore has a winning system: a great support staff, an innovative, ingenious and practical design team, and a fantastic crew who lovingly constructs all of the pieces and expertly packages all of the parts. And most of all, they stand behind their products and truly care about their customers. I originally had my heart set on the EZ View Desk 3.0 by the Original Scrapbox, but they were sold out at the time. So I found this desk and I'm very happy with it. Of course it doesn't have all the hidden storage like the other one, so I also ordered the Cabidor Deluxe, a unit that you can hang on your door hinges. Between the two, all my art/craft storage needs are met and I didn't have to spend $1,000 on the other desk. Anyway, the reason I like this desk so much is because of the accessible paper storage on the side - my favorite feature. I use the space underneath that to store my Cuttlebug and plates, envelope maker and box of gel pens. I use the open storage on the other side to store my bin of markers, painter's water bin and Bob Ross cleaning rack. The drawer in the middle fits all my ink dyes and blending brushes, and the front shelves fit all my bins of stamps, dies, scraps, and cards/envelopes. I didn't think the hole inserts for the door would be any use, but they are. My crafting tweezers, cutting blades, wire cutters and different size scissors all fit. Overall, I think it's a great little desk for the money, it fits more than I imagined, and I love it. It's pretty too, and that coupled with being organized keeps me motivated to do my art projects because everything has a place to go back to, so cleaning up isn't stressful. Btw customer service is great too - my original desktop was damaged and they replaced it immediately. ... show more

I purchased this to use as a sewing/embroidery station. The storage size are not to accommodating for all the necessities that are needed to store in one area. The 2 cabinets are not big enough to store a sewing machine inside, however I have them both at the same level for ease of use. I also understand why some of the comments were about sturdiness if you needed to move it after you put it together. I needed the table to be a little taller and with added some modifications, my table is solid and movable. My work space is still in progress as I am slowly revamping my craft room. By adding the heavy plywood and casters to the bottom of the table, I actually have a little more storage for all my thread. It was easy to put together, instructions were labeled and easy to read. I was worried if I was going to receive some broken pieces due to the weight of the box. I was surprised that everything was intact and no damage to the desk. I plan on adding some more space to the desk later on or until I find something better. For now I'm happy with this purchase and to the modifications that I added for more stability and to be able to move if I want to change my room up. ... show more
