  • Buy ten of these.
Style: 3.5 Farad
This capacitor works as I expected. I'm not about to even consider seeing my lights flickering, even without a capacitor. I bought a second one of these caps because I'm about to add a third SSL 4000 Watt Class D Monoblock amp, and already have a 1600 watt Class A/B 4 Channel for my Infinity's. This cap simply bumps the amperage when the song bumps...sending the signal to the amp and then draining your amp draw...so it only makes sense to give the system some oomph when it's needed to make up for the system surges at heavy hitting amperage. I also have 2- 900CCA Deep Cycle batteries in addition to the truck's main battery which is rated at 150 amps over the factory specs and an upgraded alternator...from 95 amps total output, to 135 amps output. My truck thumps like nobody's business and I never see a flicker...even with A/C and headlights on. ... show more

  • Works for Amateur Radio also
Style: 2 Farad
I have a Ford F-150 with the 3.5l Ecoboost engine. This vehicle has the automatic stop/start "feature" that shuts the engine down at stops and restarts it when the foot is removed from the brake or if the battery needs charging or the AC needs to run for cooling or other reasons. It is supposed to save gasoline. It may do that, but it has some unfortunate side-effects. One of those is that my Icom IC-7100 can't take the voltage sag that happens when the engine starts. It will reboot. Ford did something with the built-in system so that continues to operate, so I knew a solution had to be available. This was the solution. I paired it with a Bridge Rectifier diode to ensure that the capacitor would be charged but not feed the power back to the battery when the engine starts. It provides the voltage stability that my radio needs. Now I don't have to remember to shut the auto stop/start off as the radio will happily continue to operate through those cycles. The capacitor will operate without the display. I did however connect a wire to the radio through the auxiliary connector's pin that has voltage when the radio is turned on. I use the same connection to power another device that is only active when the radio is turned on. The 2 Farad capacitor is likely way more than what was needed. However, it was available at a good price, being only a couple more dollars than the 1 Farad capacitor. It is rather large, but I have it located under the rear seat in the F-150 and it fits well there along with the other radio equipment. Bottom line is that I can recommend this for solving the radio reboot problem for those who have the same problem. ... show more

  • I wouldn't call its dimensions small but other than that seems okay.
Style: 3.5 Farad
I could tell from the pictures and the listed dimensions that this wasn't a small unit but combined with the provided mounting hardware I was surprised at the size. I bought it for a crew cab F150, and I already have two JL's under the rear seats along with an Audio-control 6XS crossover, one amp under one of the front seats, another amp in the dash and so on, so I squeezed it under the drivers seat but had to make my own mounting hardware. Besides that I've only had it installed a day but so far it works fine, and although its hidden the unit looks good-seems well made. I'll update if anything changes. ... show more

Just what I needed

  • Seems to be a good capacitor over all.
Style: 3.5 Farad
So far so good I have the capacitor installed in line with a mobile Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) amplifier pulling between 75 and 85 amps and no more voltage drops. So it is well worth the price. I am using true 4 gauge oxgen free copper wire to feed the capacitor not that copper-clad aluminum junk. The wire will make a big difference in the way a capacitor and amplifier performs. So I would suggest getting one, but remember to use good wire it doesn't matter how many Farads you get you will not get a 100 percent out of the capacitor unless you use good wire and have good ground. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
Style: 2 Farad
The packaging is a horrendous nightmare designed to discourage returns. Typo instruction book pic with reversed polarity. LED and digits way too bright. Supplied charging 51 ohm resistor is too high value. Used 8 ohm 20 watt resistor and it charged correctly. Otherwise ok. Voltmeter is accurate and useful. It was holding 11 volts when I unpacked it so its probably a capacitor. If youre a ham or electronics tech this is acceptable. If not, spend more and get a more coherent manual and parts kit. 3 stars cuz it was inexpensive. ... show more

  • Awesome Capacitor
Style: 3.5 Farad
The media could not be loaded. Don't listen to any of these reviewers stating that it's not a super/ultra-cap (which the product states its just a capacitor, nothing more) or the ones stating it doesn't last long and such. Chances are they either misused it or installed it improperly. I've had two of these 3.5uf capacitors providing supplementary power to two 1600watt amps, that's one cap per amp, I've had no issues. Fully charged they each hold about 14.7v, during standard music playing like using the radio tell drop to about 11.5v-12.5v, during heavy usage like playing heavy bass music it has only gone as low as 9.5v-10.5v. When my car is off, I can do heavy usage for about 45min to an hour and 1.5 - 2 hours of standard play. As soon as the car comes on, the recharge is instant. both caps have a low voltage tone which comes on when the voltage drops below 9v which I've tested by running both amps off of one cap. All in all, these caps are great for beginners or just those who don't have big systems. Of course, if you plan on going big, then I would recommend getting a super/ultra cap which usually looks like standard car batteries. But if you have limited space or you don't have the need for such high-end applications, these caps are the way to go. ... show more

  • Works like a charm so far.
Style: 2 Farad
Installed last night. The instructions say nothing about connecting the remote wire during the charging process, but it does need it. Only took about 30 seconds or so for the capacitor to charge with that little diode it came with. Reached about 10.8V then stopped blinking. Status light never came on like the instructions state it would, but the decimal point was blinking. So far so good. First time it fired up, it showed 12.1V and nothing blew up. I`m happy. ... show more
