Light but string. Great drag. Smooth retrieve. Casts awesome. Just a great reel. Caught several bass in the 5-8 pound range. Handled them with no problems. Get a good stiff rod. 7 feet. Makes a world of difference.

This reel is surprisingly hefty, I attached it to a little 3ft rod and put some 20lb braid on it for Fishing under bridges and in heavy mangrove forests where I only need to cast a few feet and the underwater conditions are sharp. It's a little champ, I was pulling up Sheepshead after a few casts.

I have 4 reels from Sougayilang so far and though I have had bad luck with their rods, all of their reels have been awesome! This one is no exception. They are all pretty much Daiwa clones, even down to the incredibly similar logo. This reel is one of my favorites from them. It is super smooth, cast great, and looks nice. The bail easily flips over with just the handle, the drag is strong and smooth, and the anti reverse is dead on with no let off at all. I've used it for bass and crappie so far and it has performed just fine in both situations. The only thing I've noticed about it is that it has a little bit of flex in the frame, but not enough to cause any issues or anything. It's only a 2000 size reel so I'm likely not going to be hauling in anything big enough for the little bit of flex to matter. Overall I think it's a great reel and I have been very happy with it. For only $18 it is an incredible deal and I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

The sougayilang reel is Awesome! Unfortunately the 1st box was crushed due to mishandling in a paper bag?! Replacement reel was again Awesome, but box was not in pristine new condition due to how it was shipped again, in a paper bag, with no warning of being a fragile item, not to be thrown, crushed or abused! I like this reel. It looks good, but it performs better. It is very smooth on the retrieve, and the drag works well. There is no play in the handle when you stop/start cranking. The bail kicks over easily to begin the retrieve. It is a solid reel and better than most that I've used at this price point. ... show more
