  • Best I have found
Color: Green
I can't say enough good things about these muffs. The noise cancellation is better than my Walkers and the sound dampening is as good as Peltor or 3M. Especially with the gel cups, I really find them comfortable. If you wear glasses and find that the muffs put too much pressure on your glasses frame, I recommend getting Sightlines Gel pads with the relief cut for glasses. There are only two downsides to these : the first is that they are expensive. But I figure my hearing is worth it, once its ruined there's no fixing it, and I'd rather pay $300 for good hearing protection while shooting than deal with hearing aids when I can't hear because my ear drums are shot. The second downside is the batteries are a little tricky to put in and get out; it's a great waterproof design, but it's not so easy to do. Other than that these are 5 out of 5. ... show more

  • Amazing comfort, superior sound quality, must-have ear pro
Color: Green
The Sordin Supreme PRO X ear pro is one of the best pieces of equipment I have ever purchased. For quite some time, I used some of the more budget-friendly electronic hearing protection such as the Howard Leights and Walker Razors. When using them only a few minutes at a time, the budget-friendly stuff is pretty good... but not something I would want to spend a lot of time in. I recently started shooting IDPA matches and wearing ear pro continuously for many hours made me realize I needed to invest in something a bit better. Since the other brands I have used seem to be pretty popular, I think they are a good baseline that everyone can use for comparison. The electronics used in the lower-end ear pro tends to have much harsher noise cut-offs where there is a very noticeable switching off of the sound every time something exceeds the decibel threshold. Not so much with the Sordins. The electronics used in the Supreme PRO X are so good that I can't perceive any change in the audio during gunshots. I actually don't know if they either don't cut off completely (just attenuating the loud noise while still allowing ambient sound through the electronics continuously) or if they do completely cut off and reactivate so quickly that I just can't notice it. Either way, the perceived ambient sound is completely constant and I feel like I can even hear the gunshots really well, though at a safe volume. Aside from no longer being annoyed at the audio cutting out during gunshots, the quality of the audio itself seems to be much better with ambient sounds. All electronic ear pro will offer sound amplification that gives you super-human hearing and that is a feature I never knew I actually needed. (I would even go so far as to say electronic ear pro is a must-have for everybody, even occasional shooters and budget-friendly options.) Some of the other brands I've used tend to have very electronic-sounding audio, like I can tell I'm hearing my friends speak through a microphone, it sounds almost like talking through a radio. Like the difference between listening to music through an old pair of free airline headphones vs a high-end surround sound stereo system. The Sordins just sound so much more natural. Now, they aren't THAT amazing, like a high-end stereo system, but I feel like I'm ALMOST listening to my friends speak to me without any ear pro and without any electronic sound. The gel ear cups are mandatory. I don't know how soft or comfortable the standard ear cups are, but the version that comes with the gel ear cups cannot be passed up. The gel cups are able to conform to make a very nice seal around my glasses and edge of my hat. The sound protection is only as good as the seal you make against your head and the gel cups certainly seal well. Almost as important, they are SO comfortable! The clamping pressure is strong enough that I have zero concerns about them shifting or falling off if I shake my head around. But, the pressure is light enough that it doesn't squeeze my head at all. Between the clamping pressure and the gel seals, the comfort level is nothing short of amazing. After a full day of shooting in a match, I actually have to remind myself to take them off during range cleanup because I forget that I am even wearing them! Once I do take them off, though, I instantly miss wearing them since I no longer have super-human amplified hearing! As far as hearing protection and decibel ratings goes, I don't have any concerns with wearing them outdoors all day long for a pistol match. I only shoot rifles and indoors with double hearing protection as a general rule. However, I did try shooting a rifle (308 Win, 26", no muzzle brake) outdoors using only the Sordins and the volume was pleasantly not uncomfortable. My only dislike of the Sordins is actually pretty minor. They use AAA batteries and the battery compartment is difficult to access. I don't have an issue with inserting/removing the batteries as I have found the technique of smacking them on your palm to pop the battery into place pretty easy once you get the hang of it. But I do worry that because I can't access the inside of the battery compartment easily to clean it, if a battery should ever leak it would mean I'm pretty much screwed. Hopefully I don't ever have to put that Energizer product repair leak warranty to a test! Overall, I would say these are absolutely must-have ear pro for casual shooters. ... show more

  • What a difference !!
Color: Green
I'm not one to do reviews but I like to read them while I'm looking to buy. I have a pair of Walker Razors and they were around $55 bucks. Let's be clear, they work great and as advertised. I shoot competitive skeet and though there is no one holding up signs like at a PGA event there is just stuff I don't want to hear. With the Walkers I hear everything, sirens, conversations, and every bit of the wind. If was hunting these would be great but with 5 skeet fields 25 guys calling for targets and people in the background I thought I would try the Sordin Supreme Pro X. I thought if they weren't worth the money I could return them. So now the Sordin's, they are worth every single penny. First they are more comfortable. I bought the gel ear model after reading here. I am not let down, they are way more comfortable. I don't know I'm really wearing them and I can wear them all day comfortably. I can not believe the clarity of what I am hearing with these microphones. They are crystal clear and I can turn the volume down and they are not picking up everything around me but still hearing everything around me if that makes any sense. I hear the voices, the gun shots are muffled, it's perfect. I just don't know how to describe the difference, I would say you have to try them if you spend a lot of time on the range and I do. I no longer hear the wind noise and I promise where I shoot it can howl making skeet targets tough. The microphones are just that much better and the clarity in my ears is incredible; they are not metallic sounding at all. I read that people didn't like how the batteries went in and they are difficult to come out. I mean if that's the sort of thing that bothers you for God's sake don't by them. It's not that tough. I snapped the first one in with the back side of a set of tweezers. The second slides in. Done, big deal. To get them out you just tap them and the second battery just pops out. The fit and finish is a military tough feel. They give me confidence. I wish I had bought them as soon as I knew about them or when I was a kid doing all that shooting without proper hearing protection. I may have been in better shape at my age if I had had these. There is no time to actually start protecting your hearing the way I see it. They do not interfere with my shotgun at all and I promise I do not want to mess up the stock on my competition gun. Overall, I give these a double thumbs up and I think they're perfect !! ... show more

  • Awesome
Color: Green
My first ear pro purchase. After using the “dumb” ones that are handed out at ranges, these feel like going from a tricycle to a Hayabusa. You can hear people clearly and it keeps the shooting noise down. The batteries are tricky to install, but just use some rechargeables which will actually fit better. ... show more

  • Excellent hearing protection

Excellent hearing pro and good sound quality. My only problem with it was it was not comfortable for me. I’ve had similar problems with other devices too

  • Best hearing protection I've used
Color: Green
I was hoping to use these under a helmet and found that my head geometry does not make it very comfortable. However, as a standalone headset these are great. Noise cancellation is outstanding, the quality of sound from the microphones are good and they are comfortable. Once I got helmet mounts for these, I was very impressed with the comfort on a helmet as well. I am considering buying a second pair to keep as a headband type. ... show more
