  • Old technology, disappointing
These are pretty good overall, I might buy another pair for my vacation home. I am in a condo where the neighborhood gets super quiet after about 10:00 at night. I like to watch TV, or play my bass guitar until about 2:00 AM, and I don’t want to disturb the people next door. So I got these headphones. For the people that think they might be counterfeit, I don’t believe you have to worry. If you read the ad page carefully, there are two products, the Sony headset, and the NeeGo Y adapter plug. I was concerned it might be a knock off, but everything about the headset looks correct. The packaging, the Sony label on every part, including the batteries, and the overall quality says that it is a real Sony product. It is a terrible shame that you even need to wonder about this kind of thing. I also use the classic Sony 7506, and the 7506 are counterfeited all the time. It seems like the government could protect us from this kind of thing. Here are some observations about the product: The whole point of this is that it is wireless (radio) but not Bluetooth. Bluetooth imbeds a latency (time delay) that will make the TV not sync with the audio. Since this is not Bluetooth, it has no latency. The audio and video will match up on watching TV or YouTube. The product seems high quality, but the design seems about 20 years old. It reminds me of the wireless telephone systems from the 90’s. Reliable, but old technology. For instance, the rechargeable battery is NI-MH (old school) instead of lithium (like your cell phone). So far, after two weeks, the battery has not been an issue. It does what it is supposed to do. So perhaps it does not matter. The batteries in those old wireless phone systems lasted years and they are also NI-MH. The battery charges by electrical contact when you place it on the tower. Again, a modern design would be contactless instead of electrical contact. But it works, so who cares? The user interface is really out of date. There is an LED on the tower and another one on the headset. You need to read the manual in order to figure out what the status means, for instance red, green, or blinking green. But again, so far I have just ignored the LEDs and it works fine. Ideally, there really should not be a “user interface” for headphones, they should just function, and so far that is how it has worked out. It is nice that Sony made the battery and the earpads user replaceable. But the replacement battery costs about $40, which seems way overpriced. I notice lots of aftermarket vendors, with varying levels of price. In order for the product to function, you need to have a nice strong signal going into the tower. If the signal is weak, all you will hear is a swishing phase shifting noisy sound. So crank up the volume at the source and control the level with the headset volume controller. Also, there are three radio channels that can be used. The manual is vague about how to match up the tower to the headset. If they are not on the same channel, no signal will come. The manual is not clear on how to set the channels. I can see why some reviewers are frustrated. But after you get the channel set, the problem goes away. The controls on the headset are on/off on the left side, and on the other side there is a volume control, a switch to make voice frequencies louder, and a button to change the radio frequency channel. I can get along with this, but I could see why some users might be confused. I think it could be simplified. The sound is good. I can hear much better on these headphones than on my high grade speakers. Spoken dialog is clear, as is the whole TV listening experience. They are not as good as a wired high grade set of headphones, but they do sound very good. I imagine purists will not like the fact that the signal is compressed and then expanded. But I did not find this to be a problem for TV or bass guitar playing. Audiophiles should probably stick to wired phones, but I am not an audiophile. The swishing noise sound will occasionally come when the signal is blank, like if you pause the program matter. This only happens infrequently. As far as range, I use it in one room, and it works fine. If I leave the room, the connection starts to get that swishy sound, or just plain noise. I would say the signal gets about as far as the wifi router in my home. As far as comfort, they are comfortable to wear, no complaints. Overall, I say these are very good quality, but use a dated design. UPDATE: After a few months I have changed my mind, because they are so noisy. Also the battery charging is flakey. So I knocked it from 4 to 2 stars. These headphones make all kinds of very loud crackle noises from the wireless connection, louder than the source you might be trying to listen to. My distance from the transmitter is about 12 feet. The battery charging is miserable to figure out, the red light does not disclose what is going on. I bought a new battery after a few weeks hoping this would fix things, but no. The battery was $44. And they are difficult to set to the correct channel. If not set to the correct channel they don't function. It is tricky to do, and frustrating. The user interface is something from 1980, and useless. I still use them but I get angry every time. They really are not very good. I paid plenty for these, they should be flawless. Sony has really let this product become out of date. I don't know any good alternatives. The Bluetooth versions will have latency, so watching TV will have the sound not synch well. The wired ones sound good but the wire is a hassle. Perhaps the Bluetooth latency is not too bad. I might give a pair a try. ... show more

  • Good for TV watching.
My wife says they are comfortable and suit her needs. She listens to her shows and can move room to room.

  • Great to have so my husband does not blast the volume.
I like having the ear phones. I can have my volume low and he can have his high.

  • Pleased so far
Purchased for my dad who is hard of hearing. He is very happy with the sound quality. Only complaint he had is the ear pads are a lil small for his ears. But he does have good size ears, so.

  • Absolutely NO Latency
Easy setup, however, it took about 9 hours to charge up the headset the first time. After that, great. I bought these because my Bose Bluetooth headset would not work with my new Insignia Amazon Fire TV properly. I had latency problems even though the F50 series TV is designed specifically to accommodate Bluetooth headsets (unlike the F30 series). Anyway, problem solved. These will blow out your eardrums!! Start with volume all the way down! They do not completely surround my ears so I would not call them truly "ear-covering". That is why I only gave it 4 stars. ... show more

  • Very pleased!
I am very happy with the headphones. I have a problem with the background music in movies and many TV shows being so loud I can't hear or understand what the actors are saying. These headphones help with that. When watching TV with others, they can have the volume at a comfortable level for them, while I can turn my headphones volume up so I can also hear. I have walked all over my home with these headphones on and can still hear the TV. Helpful if you want to run to the fridge during a show while others are watching with you. I would highly recommend these headphones for people have difficulty hearing the TV while watching with others. ... show more

  • Love my earphones!
This set of earphones are light and easy to handle. They fit my head perfectly and I can hear every word clearly. So glad I ordered them and they shipped quickly. I was expecting a battery to come with them but none was in the box.
