  • Durable
It is a Battery Charger, I purchased as a backup, it seems to feel none cheap and charges good. My only dislike is, I would have preferred the price to be alittle less, other than that, it is a good buy.

  • Should come with the camera
Battery fit very snugly. I think the camera should come with a charger and battery.

  • Replaced Green Extreme charger with this
Bought an a6400 bundle from Adorama that included a Green Extreme charger. The charger crapped out after a year (LCD issues, except the changer worked fine). The Sony charger works the same except it doesn't include USB power supply. Charge time seems to be about the same (battery-limited?). It is smaller than the Green Extreme. ... show more

  • Good charger… with one odd thing
This is the charger that Sony should have included with the new a7 and a7r. Very straightforward and good at what it does, with two small things you should be aware of. Firstly, the positive are the progress lights. I hate chargers that only show a single red and green LED. I love chargers that show me how much it is charged and how much charging remains to be done, so kudos to Sony for including three LEDs that show progress. However… reading the manual, I come to find out that after the progress lights are all lit and the "charging" LED has turned off… the battery is NOT fully charged. For a truly FULLY charged battery, you are supposed to leave the battery in the charger for another hour! So, there is a secret, bonus charging level that you only find out about if you read the manual. I have no idea of the final ten percent of charging will make much difference in the battery life, but I find it odd that they would design the charger to behave as if it is finished charging when its not. My only other quibble is that there is no car charging cord, only an outlet plug. Not a huge deal, but it doesn't hurt to have options, especially considering how short lived these batteries are. All in all, it does what its supposed to do, but it doesn't do it all that quickly (220 minutes from dead battery to sort-of, kind-of fully charged, and an additional 60 minutes to be FULLY-fully charged). The design is compact and travel friendly (the plug folds into the body of the charger). All in all, its not bad, but not the super slick, well thought out, and super fast charger I had hoped for. There are cheaper chargers here on Amazon that charge faster, but the one I purchased (Maximal Power FC500) has little plastic "wings" that hold the battery that are just waiting to snap off, and no progress lights. There are always tradeoffs! ... show more

  • Seems more reliable than the off-brand after-market chargers
Although twice the price (or more) than other chargers for SONY battery for the A6000-6500 cameras, I chose this charger. My previous (non--SONY) chargers died after a few years of light usage. Non-SONY batteries declined in ability to charge, and the Wasabi battery started to deform and swelled up. Unable to easily remove battery from camera. Recently purchased a new 6500 camera and SONY battery, I didn't want to risk damaging another battery. Progressive level of charging is displayed with LEDs. When LEDs indicate "full charge", it is only 80% charged. Let it continue for another hour or more to reach 100% charge. The guidelines for this are clearly stated in the accompanying instructions. The instructions, however, are printed with extremely small font, making them difficult to read. I am reluctant to try to charge off brand batteries with the new SONY charger, out of concern that the offbrand batteries damage the SONY charger. ... show more

  • BC-TRW W charger is compact but slow.
This BC-TRW W series battery charger works well and charged my NP-FW50 battery per specifications. The strong point is that it is compact, about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of the BC-QM1 charger, and it occupies less space in your bag. The weak point is that it is slower than the BC-QM1 charger. The BC-TRW W series charger specification is that is charges a fully discharged battery in 220 minutes (3 hours 40 minutes) whereas the BC-QM1 charger will accomplish this task in 115 minutes (just less that two hours) in the quick charge mode. If you need to charge more than one battery when traveling with the BC-TRW W charger, you may have to get up in the middle of the night to swap in the next battery. Since Sony A7 and A7R cameras consume lots of power, more than one battery may be a necessity (I have 3). So, Sony, here is my wish. Please make a W series charger which is compact and charges in the quick charge mode. ... show more

  • Charge-level indicator makes a difference!
Yes, the make a million knock-off chargers for the FW50 batteries and I even own a couple. So why did I buy this? I decided to start using OEM batteries AND I wanted a charger with a charge-level indicator. Not that you can't charge OEM batteries with a knock-off charger but I decided to just go all-in with the OEM stuff when it comes to the power suppies. It is solidly built, charges the batteries as fast (maybe a little faster?) than off-brand chargers. Switching to OEM batteries made a big difference, just FYI. And you can find them on E-bay for much cheaper than the camera store (or Amazon) ... show more
