  • Great product - Way hard to install

I recently purchased the “Sub Mini” to complete my home theater system (Arc, surround speakers, and now the Sub Mini). I want to thank Sonos for producing such a great product, however, installing the Sub Mini was a horrible and frustrating experience. This is not what I expected from Sonos. All of the products that I have purchased were easy and seamless to install. That is why I purchased the Sub Mini, thinking that it too would also be easy to install. NOT SO. The problem was the PIN number that was required. The instructions were clear enough. However, the location of the PIN number and the Font Size and coloring made it almost impossible to read. I am 78 years old and even with my glasses on I could not read the number. It is located on the bottom side of the unit, on the side wall of the indentation where the power cord plugs in. Why would they hide it in such an obscure place. On top of that, it is printed in a light grey color on a black background with almost no contrast and a Font Size that is so small that you can't see it. Would you believe I had to ask my neighbor to read the number for me? I just can’t understand the reasoning behind the location and size of the number. Why not just print it on the underside of the box lid or on a card with the power cord. To say the least, I was frustrated and upset that I couldn't install the sub by myself. Add this problem to their very poor rollout of the updated app, and now I am wondering if I should consider buying any more Sonos products. Sonos needs to fix this issue soon, or risk other poor reviews and lost sales to those of us that aren’t 25 years old. Just be aware that if you purchase one of these, you will need 20/20 vision and a very strong flashlight in order to install it. Once you get it installed, the sound is amazing. ... show more

  • PUNCHY LIL SUB!!!!

Added a sub after receiving the SONOS Beam 2. Great pairing and set up was easy enough. I find myself using the nighttime mode with this set up since the sub responds to very low bass well. It will literally shake the walls, so be mindful when using at late hours.

lots of bass in a small package! i have both the larger sub and the mini. as long as you go in sonos settings, this is easy to adjust louder. pairs easily with sonos ecosystem and can be used over wifi or hard wired with Ethernet.

I have a Play:5 and bridge that is at least 25 years old. Solid HiFi performance and ease of use with the old S1 control app. Just update periodically and enjoy. I purchased a Beam 2 years ago for my Sony OLED connected via HDMI e ARC which did a good job. I wanted to augment the bass so ordered a sub mini. In order to pair the sub with the Beam I had to bring both into the Sonos wireless system using the new S2 control app and that's when things fell apart. No matter what I did it would not pair or be recognized by my wifi router. I went to their website and followed every instruction and suggestion they had. I researched YouTube articles to no avail. I then tried their Chat Bot which was a disaster and it threw in the towel and connected me with a tech via email. Ninety minutes later I finally had to stop and the response was go to my internet provider and ask for a bridge (not even sure what that means). So over 400 dollars later and a whole afternoon of frustration I'm told to basically figure it out myself. Then as if to rub salt in the wound the tech asked if the experience was helpful and asked for a rating. Really. I went back to the Sonos website and there is a long letter from the CEO apologizing about the new S2 pontil app and connectivity issues. It sounded like the CEO of Boeing trying to gloss over their abysmal failure concerning the software in the 737 Max. I wish I had read this before ordering the sub. At any rate I am going to start the return process for the sub and am considering either selling the Beam or moving it to a bed room TV and replace both with a dedicated Sony sound bar and wireless subwoofer. No more proprietary systems for me! ... show more
