I’ve always lived in apartments or townhouses where I’ve never felt comfortable with any sound systems. The bass really starts thumping at louder volumes than probably talk TV levels. I saw this is compatible with the newest 300s. Our TV is old so we are using optical, but at some point we will upgrade to an eArc compatible TV.     • It does its job but wasnt blown away
Its a replacement for the standard tv speaker. It sounds very clear when playing low volume to loud. You can clearly hear what people are saying when they talk. I may have expected too much based on its price but its not surround sound nice - still good though. I would price this around 300-500 range. Definitely dont believe its worth its full retail price ... show more

    • Playbar predecessor has better volume

The Arc has really good sound immersion and I'm not disputing that especially with the Dolby Atmos capability. One problem many may not like is the fact that it only has one HDMI port. That did not make a difference to me But what really surprised me with the ARC is it's comparison to my older play bar which I have in the living room . the ARC volume is not nearly as high as my older play bar. I brought my older play bar from the TV room into the bedroom and hooked up the play bar to the optical since the play bar can only use optical. And definitely it was not my imagination. I played him separately side by side and the playbar definitely has much higher volume I spoke with tech support about it and they could only suggest that I should return it and get another one but I really doubt that's the problem. They said I can tune it with true play but true play is not going to increase the volume it's only going to enhance or optimize it for the size of the room End of story is the arc I had to return and now I'm looking for the older play bar either refurbished or brand new. To illustrate how good the playbar is it's still it's now selling for more than it actually sold for 4 years ago. I was fortunate that they were selling it for only $400 as the new Sonos soundbar was about to come out. Had I known that the play bar was going to sound that good I would have bought a second one for the $400 price tag. But by the time I hooked it up the only remaining playbar was gone. And now the few remaining play bars are selling for over $900! That tells you how good to play bar is even with its limited technology and drawback drawbacks such as no Bluetooth. I think with Dolby Atmos sonos has lost advantage. My only regret is I should have bought a second play bar because at the time it was so close to the newer arc that they were selling them for $400 and there was two left at BrandsMart. But I had no idea how great that play bar would sound ... show more
