  • Yes it works for a 240v pool pump
I used it for 240v pool pump — so yes it is a great device for non 120v appliances — wifi is great easy set upWith timer schedule wtc

  • Good quality and easy to setup
Hi wattage is my best attraction on this product. I'm controling my hot water cylinder power supply (230v ,3500w) in night time in cheaper rates. Also I set correct time to turn on and turn by itself so I don't have to worry. It monitors power consumption which is good to know whether it's overloaded or not. And default mode going back to contact position which is useful to run hot water cylinder in optimum temperature when Wifi cuts off sometimes. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Almost started a fire
It worked for les than 2 months. worked very fine, until it didn't. device appered offline, went to check, and found it burnt, even with sings of fire. I feel lucky that it didn't actuially started a fire at my home. Had the device connected to a heatpump, rated way less than the device rating (14.6A heat pump, 25 AMP POWR3 Smart WiFi Wireless Light Switch), but it couldn't handle it somehow. Don't know what to do, can't find how to contact the seller. ... show more

  • Tasmota-compatible high-amperage smart switch
I wanted to do power monitoring and control on a dumb early-2000s 240v air conditioner that has a built-in resistive heater, and thus can draw 5000w at max load. This was the only high-amperage, 240v smart switch that I could find. Sonoff is a titan in the smart switch industry, so I had no concerns shelling out almost $50 for a single smart switch. Upon delivery, it was built solidly and weighed almost a pound, despite the plastic shell. It definitely felt quality-made. I opened it up with four easily accessible screws and found terminals already soldered on for the ESP8266's serial connection. Using that and Tasmota's web installer, I was able to re-flash this Sonoff's firmware over to Tasmota, an open source firmware for smart home control over switches, lights, and more. With it, I had zero issues doing power control over the air conditioning, as well as power monitoring. It outputs voltage, wattage, power factor, apparent and reactive power, and tracks kilowatt-hour usage over time. If I had any complaints, it's that the enclosure seems needlessly large, and that upon opening it there are PCBs mounted to both sides, with wires running in between. Those wires make it hard to fully open the enclosure and lay it flat. All in all I'm happy and would buy it again ... show more

  • Actually works for controlling 240VAC water heater
I didn't think that this would work for a 240VAC water heater, which has two phases. I've see other Wifi switches that control both of the phases at the same time. This switch only has 1 relay therefore can only control one of the two phases. But a Youtuber pointed out that by disconnecting one of the phases, current won't flow, therefore accomplish the same thing as breaking both phases. I like the fact that it is a Sonoff device, which can be flashed with Tasmota for my Home Assistant setup. I'm currently using this device successfully in my garage for the water heater, and purchasing another one for the pool pump outside. Will have to report back if the outside unit is going to last too long, being housed by a water-proof enclosure, and gets beaten by sun and rain on a daily basis. ... show more
