Description

In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in medieval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA. Fan favourites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will speed around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in Aiai’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium… But winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position. Battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown. Can Amigo scramble Dr. Eggman? Will AiAi say bye-bye to Tails? Are you gonna be faster than Sonic?

  • My Girlfriend & I Love it!!!
Platform: Xbox 360
My girlfriend isn't much of a gamer, but she always sees me gaming on my Xbox or PC, so i guess she wanted a little something for herself too. When she was young, she had an N64 and Mario Kart was one of her favorite games. I did my research in search of a game for her that she'd like, and i ran into this one. I saw it and i said, okay we're getting somewhere. Then i read as many reviews as possible throughout multiple websites, and encountered nothing but positive feedback on this game. I can say that this game is Fun & Beautiful. It's pretty much Mario Kart, but Sonic (as good or maybe even better). The buttons are extremely easy and to the point. After every race you earn i think it's called "Sega Points/Cash", and with those Sega points you can go into the Sonic Racing Store and unlock/buy New Maps, Characters, & more Soundtracks (it gives you something more to play for). There are SO MANY Characters & fun Maps to choose from, so the variety is there. The detail & atmosphere in each level is admirable, the designers did a beautiful job detailing and animating the maps. Besides the classical "Race" mode, there are many other fun game types with an objective that are available to play. This game is complete: many characters, many & beautiful maps, up to local 4-player split screen, 8-player Xbox Live to play with other people around the world, etc. Two of my good friends were over my house on Friday night (and we're hardcore gamers), and we actually sat down for 2 hours playing this game and unlocking more characters & maps... it was fun. Overall, my girlfriend loves this game, and i enjoy it a lot myself. So if you're looking for something fun for the kids, maybe even for your girlfriend, or if you have Mario Kart nostalgia... i can 110% recommend this game, it's nothing but a great game. ... show more

  • Loads Of Fun: Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing [X-Box]
Platform: Xbox 360
This game is fun and the graphics much better than the Wii. Pretty much the same idea as Mario Bros 'Mario Kart' but with better graphics and a bit more imagination at play here. If you like the Mario Kart you will like this one. Just as challenging and just as much fun. I am still in the beginner mode at this point and I am winning or placing in, almost every race. Some races are very challenging in the beginner mode, for me, and that is the way it should be. I am not a heavy gamer by any stretch. Maybe play X-Box and Wii about 1-4 times in a month. More if my son invites me to play a game with him. As you run through the races you accumulate money to buy more characters, race courses and music. You can keep score of your accumulated scores in a multitude of challenges. Far too many to name at this time. It is like they spent a lot of time thinking up reasons for you to 'win' something. I think that is asinine but younger players (say, under 14) may enjoy this aspect of the game. A fun game and a nice change-up from Mario Kart. I'd say that'Sonic and Sega All-Stars' compliments 'Mario Kart' nicely. For $20 and free shipping this game is just as good as Mario Kart and can't be beat. Happy Gaming... . NOTE: If you have Component connections on your TV or amplifier I recommend you get the Component connectors for your Wii. The connectors only cost about $10 and there is definitely an improvement in the picture whether you are playing games or viewing downloadable media through your Wii, like movies, cartoons, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE June 2014: My disc has been unavoidably scratched and I wanted another one to replace my first one. I like the game enough to buy it again. I am glad it is still reasonably priced. Good news. UPDATE August 2014: I purchased a Wii Version instead of the X-Box version. I have written a review of that one as well. The long and the short of the Wii Version is that it is identical to the X-Box and I don't have to worry about bumping the Wii and getting laser burn. ... show more

  • Great Mario Kart Replacement
Platform: Xbox 360
My wife and I were Mario Kart addicts until our Wii broke. I made the pitch to move to an XBox 360, so I could play more of the games I was interested, and racing became a thing of the past in our house. With this game, racing has returned! While there is some loss of enjoyment because of the unfamiliarity with the characters (we are definitely a Nintendo house), overall it easily fills the void the lack of Mario Kart has introduced. I only have one issue, and this is the reason for me only rating it four stars instead of five: a lack of a map! I never realized how much I actually used the map to understand where I was in the course, and what was coming. This game is fast, and some of the tracks are so visually chaotic it can be difficult to know if you are supposed to turn or go straight. I assume as I get more familiar with the courses this will be less of a concern, but it might make full adoption by the more "casual" players in the house a bit more difficult. Overall, though, it is a good game. We have a five year old daughter, but unlike some other reviewers, she isn't picking it up quite so easily. However, she doesn't play games much, so the concept of using your thumb to turn (as opposed to turning the entire controller) is going to take some getting used to for her. This might be another place where Mario Kart Wii has an advantage, but when you take in to consideration the cost of a Wii + controllers + game, going with Sonic is a no brainer! ... show more
