After charging the camera, I set it up in my yard (on a pole) and filled it with seed. The birds immediately flew in and perched themselves on the feeder and feasted! This Solomon BF08 is one battle-tough bird feeder with the metal construction! It has endured strong storms and squirrels (LOL) without issues. The quality of the camera is stunning! The seed capacity is large, so there isn't as much refilling to do compared to other feeders. I'm going to give this a 5-star rating, but it's not completely perfect to me. The AI Recognition is a bit inaccurate at times - even way off a few times. I'll let this go, as I've thoroughly enjoy this, plus I think I know most birds that would visit this throughout the year.. It is easy to assemble and hook up to a WiFi. You do have to be reasonably close to a good WiFi. If considering this, please note that, as with any bird feeder camera, you will be inundated with a gazillion notifications at times - especially if a squirrel gets on it. This is not a criticism of this model. You will have to spend time deleting things on a daily basis. Yes, squirrels can be problems to any feeder. The camera does also detect very well people, pets, shadows, and moving foliage, so you'll get notifications on these as well. This may come in handy as backyard security camera too? I put this feeder at the top of my feeder pole in my backyard and it has been fantastic. The solar panel keeps it fully charged, and the video recordings are crystal clear. Overall, the feeder also feels extremely sturdy and I think it will last a very long time. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a great camera bird feeder. Two additional notes: 1) I bought some longer machine screws to attache the solar panel directly to the back of the feeder. This was easy, inexpensive, and keeps the entire unit very compact if you are using it on top of a pole (unnecessary otherwise) 2) The camera also works well as a "bonus" security camera depending on where you have the feeder placed. ... show more

    • Great Feeder for Bird Enthusiasts
I recently purchased the SOLIOM BF08 Bird Feeder and Camera. It is really well made and was not difficult to set-up. Setting up the APP was a different story. Establishing the camera in the APP was straight forward and easy, but then getting the free 30-day AI Bird experience was not so intuitive. To be perfectly honest, I was not able to acquire the free month’s trial, so I set-up the $6.99/month subscription so I could at least try out the bird AI. The APP has a multitude of settings. I don’t think I have figured them all out yet, and the instructions for what each setting does is nearly non-existent. However there is enough options in the app to allow you to set up the camera in just about any configuration you want. The actual bird feeder with camera is very nice. Almost as soon as I placed it on a post, the birds started flocking in on it. My phone was blowing up with notifications. The camera itself can be set up to notify you about birds, pets, people, cars, and even packages. I set mine up for just birds and pets. Surprisingly, the pets it picks up are the squirrels that visit the feeder. I think they should change that option from pets to pests! The solar panel is struggling to keep up the charge due to all the birds visiting, but there are settings on the camera I could adjust to slow down the amount of recordings to let the charge catch up. The Bird AI needs a lot of work. My first bird was a Chickadee. The AI identified this bird as a Magpie, Bufflehead Duck, pied crow, and a dozen other species. Ever so often it would hit it correctly as a Chickadee, but that was rare. Other more distinct birds like the cardinal were almost always identified correctly. But beyond that it is hit or miss. The APP actually gives you choices of what it could be. I think they could improve the APP AI much faster if the APP allowed you to mark the correct bird from the choices it gives you so that the AI could learn. Currently there is no way of telling the APP that it made the right or wrong choice. Overall I would definitely recommend this bird feeder. The notifications are nice (they actually show you a snapshot of what the camera is seeing), the feeder is well made and should last a while, and the seed capacity is very good. The only update I would like to see is more interaction with the AI so that it could learn. Allowing entry of the region you are in and being able to select the correct AI "bird guess" should help the AI to learn a bit faster. Otherwise this is a definite recommendation from me for those bird enthusiasts. ... show more
