The light is performing better than anticipated at the bottom of a dark stairway in my home. I’ve tried several battery powered lights in this location with less than acceptable results. Most have employed AA batteries & multiple leds ending in frequent battery replacement. This design uses one higher output led and three D cell batteries. My dogs activate it dozens of times a day & more than a month later it’s still 100% bright . I like the design as no tools are needed to replace batteries. Simply loosen the thumbscrew on the base to remove the entire assembly for service. The fact it uses D batteries is a plus because they have many times the capacity of a AA or C cell battery. September 29,2019— I’m ordering another light for another problem area that’s not worth the expense of hard wiring. The original light has averaged four months on a set of batteries, that’s with it being triggered dozens of times per day. Still recommend! I’ll report on battery life in a couple months.     • Work perfect for what they're designed to be!
I purchased several of these to provide total coverage from various angles in my back yard. They install VERY easily and will require three D-Cell batteries which are not included. My back yard backs up to an open field, so there is NO ambient lighting at night. In situations like mine, these lights work wonderful because they aren't "competing" with other ambient lighting... so the 200-lumens goes a long way. If you have a good deal of ambient lighting in the area you're installing, you may find their 200-lumen brightness to be under-whelming. In situations like that, I'd look for a higher powered light... but that typically also means hard wiring. Anyway... they install easily, work as intended, and should last quite a while. Bright enough but not too bright to be intrusive for the neighbors or turn you blind. I installed one above my garage and another one on the side of my house. Motion sensor seems to have great range (8-10 sqft radius). Only wish there was a way to move the bracket horizontally (side to side) since the light can only be adjusted vertically (up & down position) with the installed bracket. The media could not be loaded. We have deep eaves, so when we installed these around the perimeter of our house at about every 10 feet, they are protected from the weather. we have had some for over a year and some for maybe six months. These work great and are easy to install and are battery operated! I love them! sometimes I have to go from our house to the workshop or out to lock up the chickens and these pop on before I even get to them! We have a very dark yard until we installed these. These are a must have! We have I believe eight installed around our house, shop and woodshed and they make life so much easier. I also purchased more that we have installed up in the large pine trees at the beginning of our driveway at our cabin. My husband made little covers to keep the snow and ran off of them. They work awesome! Our cabin is up in the boondocks and there are no street lights, but we have tree lights now! You won’t be sorry, these are great purchase! (In fact I just bought a set for our neighbor for Christmas;) ) ... show more

    • Perfect to spot dogs in motion in big yards!!
These look great mounted on our porches, trees and fences in all family yards to keep an eyes on dogs going potty in the dark. Especially helpful with black dogs so I can see where they are in the dark. Motion detection works great and stays on long enough for me to get a visual. I have now purchased more than 20 of them for all our yards and we love them. I also use black electrical tape to tape over the seal once batteries are inserted to help weatherproof it. Batteries easily last more than a year with triggering several times a night each night. Would highly recommend for a quick, easy and economical alternative if you don't want run electrical lines in your yard. ... show more

I was waiting for my shades, at night I wanted to be "alerted" if someone was in my back-yard area peeking in my windows. These lights were not attached out side (which they can easily be), they were propped on my window ledge. WORKED BEAUTIFULLY and gave me peace of mind. VERY VERY bright (almost blinding). Has a radius of 35 feet (which I didn't need). You are able to adjust it to your "radius" and in my case, 15 feet. EXCELLENT purchase for me. :) ... show more

    • Better than I anticipated
I bought two sets of these lights to illuminate a dark walkway in the backyard and they work great. The light they emit is very bright unlike most solar lights, but they do require three D batteries per light for power. For a burst of light to shine on stairs, steps or walkways at dark these lights fit the bill, the lights shine for about 15 to 20 seconds and turn off. The light sensor activates the light about 15 ft before you reach the path or steps at my location. The best part for me that no wiring is required, I mounted two of them on nearby trees along the walk path from house to garage and they provide the light I need. ... show more
