  • Fun toy.
Color: White
My son was given a solar powered boat set last summer. We tried to build some of them, but the set was junk: the boats did not stay together. But the boy was intrigued: there is something about solar power's ability to move things that is fascinating. This set seems to be a lot better quality, there aren't many parts to put together, which takes frustration away. We are excited about this set. ... show more

  • Excellent product. Recommend this kit.
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. This product was assembled by my 15 year old daughter and my 8 year old grandson. The instructions are picture only and it took them a while to understand that they needed to put the gearboxes together first and then move onto their chosen configuration. They chose to build the astronaut with the battery instead of solar all because it had to have the round helmet. They had a little problem with getting things to line up but it was their issue. I had to explain to slide the gear over more, etc... This was a really cool item because it made them think about what they were doing and why. We used this as a teaching moment. We will be looking to see if their are any other ones and possibly buying another one of this kit so one of the other options can be built. I would definitely recommend this product for older kids. ... show more

  • Cool kit!
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. First off, I have to say the manufacturer is awesome. When I opened the kit it did not have any instructions. Within five hours of first contacting them they sent me a PDF file of the manual. Good on them! So far, I've made the two types of dogs (it's a head swap, really) and it works really well. Instructions are easy to follow and the pieces fit together easily. This would probably be a good kit for children ages eight and up..if they're a good reader, probably younger would do fine. The only fiddly bits are when you have to take the main modules apart (gear box or battery pack) because they require some firm squeezing that little hands would need assistance with. The kit uses three different power methods: battery pack, capacitor, and solar power. I tried all three and they each worked just fine. Of course the capacitor worked better than solar, and the battery pack absolutely demolished the others in terms of performance. If the model can support it, I would likely use the capacitor for most things. It is very easy to recharge using the battery pack as well. I can't wait to put together some of the other bots with my youngest. He's a big fan of building things. Thumbs up! ... show more

  • This is not for kids to put together
Color: Yellow
Thought the idea is cool, and the age breakdown is from 8 yrs and up, and it being a STEM activity. I am sorry to say this is not something kids could put together, at least at 8yrs of age. The instructions are very convoluted, parts are hard to break apart. My husband is a mechanic, electrician and he said it would take him hours to put together, our grandson would loose interest for sure during construction. This is for adults to put together for their children not the other way around. ... show more

  • Great idea. Poor execution.
Color: White
This little robot kit is a great idea for a gift for a child and the basic design of the robots are inspired. There are several to choose from That range from fairly easy to more complicated. The real genius of this particular toy is that it’s meant to be enjoyed as a toy, so the manufacturers were smart enough to include a battery pack, a rechargeable micro battery, and a small solar panel. With the battery pack, you can typically power most of the robots using batteries like any regular toy. The benefit here is you don’t need to rely on direct sunlight to have the toy working for the child. The battery pack can also quickly charge the micro battery, which will also run the robots for a short but enjoyable while. The main issue is that the solar panel doesn’t really work, mainly because it doesn’t seem to collect enough energy to power the gearbox of the robots. And bear in mind that, even when it does work, it’s not going to work terrible well. It’s extremely sensitive, and putting the panel in the sun will typically give you only the barest few seconds of movement anyway. Which is unfortunate. The space theme of this toy is just brilliant. The multiple options to power the toy is just brilliant. But the solar panel just doesn’t work. And then there is the quality of the plastic components - they’re not great. The main problem is with the gears that make up the gear box. Despite best efforts, its extremely hard to get these gears to click into place tightly and securely so that, the gears often skip, or stop, or stick outright. All that said, it’s not very expensive, and with the battery pack and micro battery, you can get most of the robots going. ... show more

  • Kids will love this and easily configurable and best way to engage your kids at home
Color: White
I bought this as a gift for my son 8 years old and I asked him to start assembling the product, he started doing without needing any help. He assembled all the 7 types of assemblies and he really enjoys doing it. He spends most of his time in this and do not watch mobile/tv now a days. This makes him really busy and its really improve his skills.By looking at my son, my daughter also started assembling and asking me to buy one for her. I thought this suits mostly for boys but girls also likes very much. Only thing I need to teach my kids on handling the wires as it easily breaks other than that this product is really awesome. ... show more
