This was perfect for our backyard playhouse. Since it has two levels, the two lights were plenty to keep illuminated at night. I put both on low setting, and it stayed on all night. Since it was only the first night, I don't think they were fully charged, as I installed them and the panel was exposed for only a few hours of daylight.     • Everything separate but connected
Having two separate lights, that are also separate from the solar panel is so convenient (even more convenient than I thought it would be). I wanted to use these for a shed that doesn't have electricity to it thinking that I would use one light at the front door and one light inside, when I went to put them up I realized that the area around the front door is shaded most of the day. This setup allowed me to install the panel on the roof and I could still charge both separate lights and use them as I need them. I am impressed with the construction of this light set. The fixtures are made of Aluminum. Not sure if they are painted or anodized. If I had to guess by looking at them I would say painted. They look very similar to the larger commercial anodized lights that I used to sell for a living, except on a miniature scale. The solar panel is well built. It is similar to, but smaller than one I had for camping a few years ago. There are 2 each 10 ft. cables coming out of the panel with connectors for hooking up the two light fixtures. In my application I plan to put the solar panel on top of one of my patio covers and mount the two lights under the cover. They will be mounted approximately 1/3rd in from the edge on both sides. I have not done the installation yet due to continuing rain and winds. I charged the panels by setting the fixtures and solar panel on top of my spa cover for a couple of days. It was raining off and on both of these days, but the fixtures still ended up with a good charge. I am not sure if they are somewhat pre-charged at the factory or not. These little fixtures are very bright! I took some pictures with them in my garage; first with no lights on, then with one light on, then with both lights on. It’s hard to do them justice as I believe my camera did some light compensation. But it should give you an idea. The remote controls both fixtures in tandem, not separately. If the fixtures were mounted in completely different areas, then it can be used to control them individually. I like the fact that I can increase or decrease the light levels in steps, or I can select a quick button for 50% or 100% light level. There is also the ability to set an amount of time the fixture will stay on and then turn itself off. The choices are 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 hours. I should point out that there is no motion feature but there is a dusk to dawn feature on these fixtures. It was hard for me to find a fixture that I did not have to incorporate a dusk to dawn or motion fixture. This is exactly what I wanted for my application. Speaking of hours, after doing my initial tests I decided to turn both lights on at full power to see how long they would last. After being on for 12 hours and still extremely bright, I decided that was long enough for my test. I had the solar panel disconnected during this test.     • Good lights for an unpowered shed and sturdy, but not as large as shown
I got these because I had a solar light in my shed that just stopped working one day. I couldn't figure out what went wrong with it. These are nicer because there are two lights, so I can put one inside the shed and one outside or two in the shed at different angles for better illumination. As a test, I put the solar panel out on the first sunny day we had and charged the lights up. They ran for several hours before I turned them off. They seemed pretty bright in the shed. I think one would be fine, but being able to put one to shine in the center and aiming the other at a set of shelves in the corner will probably work out better. The photos of these are a bit misleading as the panel and the lights are made to look quite a bit bigger than they are. There's a single photo partway down the page, labellled "Package Includes" that accurately shows things to scale, with a pair of batteries for the remote in the photo. The solar panel is not as wide as a doorway, or a quarter of the size of a double garage door - it is 13 3/8 inches wide. Likewise, these are not big floodlights, they are just over 5 inches wide. The lights are nicely constructed and seem both sturdy and weatherproof. The frame on the solar panel is thicker than others I've seen. The cabling is significantly thicker and sturdier than that on my previous solar light. The back of the panel has a compartment where you can access the wires for the solar panel. This is really nice because if the wire is damaged it could be replaced. Or the solar panel could be reused for something else if the lights failed. The soldering job on one of the connections wasn't great though. The lights are controlled almost entirely through a remote which uses IR to communicate with a sensor on the front of the light. This means you have to be able to point the remote at the front of the light (or something that can bounce the signal to the front of the light) to turn them on and off and use the other controls. Without the remote, these are pretty useless. There's a waterproof on/off switch on the back of each light. While the size of these isn't really as shown, they're fine for my purpose. ... show more
