  • Great little knife
Color: Satin/Wood Handle
Great little knife, solidly built with the look and feel of a high quality blade and package. "Twitch" is a great name, as to open the blade, you simply place a finger on the protruding tab, and twitch/flick the tab down into the knife body and the blade flicks out to open position. No exaggerated hand motion is required--just the flick of a finger. Makes one-handed opening a breeze. I love this little blade, and look forward to many years of trusted use. It fits perfectly in my keys/knife pocket in my blue jeans, but also plan to carry daily to work in a business suit, as it has an "executive" appearance and is rather "cute"--heck, it should even impress the ladies, slicing olives at the bar for your favorite martinis. Seems equally good for performing shallow battlefield surgeries, though sits small in the hand (not a full-size combat-style blade). I'd categorize this work of art as a precision cutting tool vs. blunt instrument for banging, prying, etc. Double locking mechanism is tight and well designed. Especially love the look and feel of the wood handles/scales. ... show more

  • Great little EDC. Slim, but strong and sharp.
Color: Satin/Wood Handle
I actually had the all metal handle version of this knife for a while and loved it. After giving that one to a friend I needed a replacement, so I went with the Rosewood handle. This knife looks great and you can tell it's pretty well made. As many other reviewers have noted I don't really use the locking mechanism, but it hasn't gotten in the way of anything. The Rosewood handle gives it a completely different look and it doesn't seem out of place in the office or the field. I wear it about everyday in a pair of well fitted dress pants and you can't even notice it. Only drawback for some would be how small it feels, definitely not one for the more robust jobs. I think it handles pretty well for a light day-to-day knife. ... show more

  • Compact EDC with just some minor issues
Color: Satin/Wood Handle
I may have just been lucky, but I did not have any of the QC issues faced by some other reviewers. Wasn't covered in oil, no loose screws or misalignment, no impossibly heavy opening action. Mine DOES have a bit of friction at the top end of the action, sometimes resulting in incomplete opening & locking when using just the flipper (and spring 'assist'). I actually expect that the wear-in the more I use it, though, and it works 100% of the time with a slight wrist flip (which I am used to doing with non-assisted knives anyway). Back lock vs liner lock is just something you will get used to, if you actually have a preference. Yes, two-handed closure is necessary (recommended, at least), but it keeps the knife slimmer and it is actually integral to the spring "assist" opening. It is the loaded tension in the lock spring and special curve of the shank that assists the opening. Handle is beautiful and the real wood makes a good grippy feel. It is a good size for EDC, although some with larger hands may find it too small. It effectively 'wears' shorter than it is, especially if you need to choke down on it to get your forefinger on the flipper. Leaves you using mostly finger pressure to hold (rather than palm) and your fingers have to battle the clip for grip since it is nearly as wide as the handle. [See photos] And the clip is the last moan and niggle. There is only one possible orientation (butt-end on left side), so if you prefer point down in your pocket (like I do) or in a left-pocket (sorry south-paws), then you're out of luck. Wonder if SOG can sell a left-hander clip that you can swap yourself since the stock clip is not reversible? But since it also impacts the ability to grip when opening so much, removing the clip completely is an option ... but then it may lose the EDC-ness as many prefer a clip to keep it accessible and out of the bottom of a pocket. Maybe a narrower clip so your fingers can reach the handle itself? ... show more

  • Attractive, Functional, Great EDC
Color: Satin/Wood Handle
I'm always in the market for a handsome pocket knife, but when I wanted to upgrade my every-day-carry, I went with this one. Let me break it down: -Wooden applique is made from a real hardwood, and has an attractive grain/finish. Obviously its not as durable as the other metal options for this knife, but it will hide minor wear and tear better than other materials. -Spring opening mechanics for this knife are nifty. I like using the back 'switch' rather than the thumb studs, adds a little unique flair over typical pocket knives. One compromise to this mechanism is that it takes two hands to close. Also, the safety switch seems a little useless to me, but it does work very well. -The pocket clip isn't too bulky, and is on the opposite end as most other knives I've had. However, I decided to remove it (I like the look and feel better). I don't recommend doing this unless you have some handy precision tools laying around. The screws that hold it on are too long to put back by themselves. I had to cut/file them down to make them shorter... tricky work. -The blade came extremely sharp, but I can't speak to its hardness yet (I've only had it for a little). AUS-8 stainless steel has a pretty high carbon content, and is a little harder than 440A stainless steel (used in many pocket knives). So, it should stay sharper for longer. Overall impressions are very good. I really like the weight and size. It seems well engineered and assembled. One tip for cleaning, don't take this knife apart. I did and once I noticed that the spring around the pivot point could easily come uncoiled, I quickly aborted that mission. Instead, use a q-tip to get the pocket lint out. ... show more
