They are lightly padded on the shaft so they are softer and more comfortable on the leg. Unfortunately, I sized up based on reviews. I am a size 8 in most things (Nike sneakers, Corral boots, Ugg boots) sometimes an 8.5 (Toms). I ordered a 9 based on reviews saying to size up and they are too big. I probably should have ordered an 8. I don’t have time before the concert to return and get a smaller size, so I will wear insoles and thick socks. These are super cute boots if you have a small and narrow foot. I got the zipper because I have a hard time getting boots on, but they wouldnt close enough to zip up. They were size 8.5. I loved the look and feel, they just didnt zip up for me. But if you have small legs and narrow feet, which a lot of people do - then I reccomend them. I love the shoes! I was worried, but I love the color and look. I consider myself a wide calf person and the boots as you can see aren’t too tight or two loose. Two things, I did size up, I normally wear 8.5, but ordered 9 and do not regret it. The other, which I know is a hazard of white boots, is that I’m worried it will scoff up easily when I see them out.
