Just for the record, I rarely write reviews but I thought this one was worthwhile. I like my coffee hot And I like it to STAY hot. Even using a insulated mug ,as I went about my morning, I would end up pouring some into a microwavable mug to heat up and it never tastes right after that. So as an indulgence I bought this mug to keep my coffee hot and it really does the trick; it heats up quickly and maintains it at my absolute perfect temperature and I can sip unhurriedly while I’m preparing lunches and doing other tasks in the morning. The instructions in the booklet were a little bit confusing but there is a short version right on the cup that makes it much simpler. It’s actually pretty easy. The heating element takes up some space so it doesn’t hold as much coffee as a standard insulated mug but I just pour more in after it’s empty and it heats it up so fast that I don’t find that to be a problem. I use a metal straw so I Can’t comment on how well drinking from the mouthpiece works. Purchased this mug back in December 2023 (3.5 months ago) and has only been used since January. It appears to already be rusting on the bottom (inside) and the coating on the outside is starting to rub off (only hand washed). These pictures are after scrubbing it with hot water and dish soap multiple times in a row. You can find A LOT better heating mugs than this one that DONT start rusting and falling apart within 3-4 months of buying and using it. Highly recommend looking at other options over this one. ... show more

    • Most dependable mug I’ve bought so far

In the last few I’ve lost count, how many different brands of cordless coffee cups and mugs i’ve bought, a few needed coasters, a few had self contained batteries. The $129. Travel Ember was the first, that had a coaster & had around one hour battery life at best, and it lasted the longest, until I accidentally put it in the microwave, and that was the end of that. But they wanted almost $200 to replace it, and I didn’t want to pay that much. And that began a long saga, of purchasing more reasonably priced assorted coffee cups and mugs. And though I tried to find an American made cup or mug, I couldn’t find one, and so I was forced to purchase mugs and cups from China, not that I’m prejudiced, I don’t care where it’s made, and some of them looked high quality, as did the packaging they came in. But you can’t judge a book by its cover, and one after another, they would all eventually quit working. Until this one, named, Smart Mugg. And I don’t know how long ago I bought it, but it’s been quite a while ago now, and it has a long battery, life, and knock on wood, it’s still working. But I probably shouldn’t have given this good review on it, because any time I might brag on anything, which is rare, it puts a curse on it, and it instantly lays down on me. Although there is one flaw that I don’t like, but not enough to return it, and chance the next one, not working at all. But it’s not a big deal, as long as you don’t lose the chord, but at the end of the night, when I shut it off, it’s not going to start again without a chord. And one last thing that I forgot, until I got familiar with it, I had trouble figuring out the controls, and couldn’t even get to shut off. And the directions are not really accurate either, it will shut off after three taps, but it’s not necessary to tap it three times, to restart it, just one press. ... show more

Love the idea and design but it just doesn’t hold enough liquid. Obviously you know how much it’s going to hold when you buy it, but it just isn’t enough to warrant the purchase.

With "normal" drink servings being 16 ounces on the "regular" menu, this mug comes in a little too small to be able to transfer a complete, "regular-size" drink form most popular establishments. Heats up to temperature fast, and even if you "babysit" your drinks, the battery will last well past 2 of your drinks easily. ... show more

This is an updated version of my happy review of the past. I got ten good months from the mug. Loved it, esp. riding all winter in the cold, it did great! Here and there it would get funky though. For instance a few times the settings got changed or power would go off by holding it to take a sip. But the end seems to have come now. It turns on but won't heat and if slow tapped to change the temp setting, it just goes to the battery icon with TEMP below it...then turns off. Their customer service has tried to help but being their suggestions haven't worked and the return period has expired, I'm afraid the bottom line is that it's way too expensive for ten months service. Update! SMRTMUGG asked me to send my mug back for either a repair or replacement and included a return address label. I'm hopeful whatever the warranty is, that it covers the cost. It may just yet be a great buy. We'll see... Thanks Chris at MSRTMUGG! Last update! SMRTMUGG sent me a new replacement for the broken mug. Perfect!!! ... show more

Instructions are printed very small, and no downloadable PDF. I enlarged them electronically but still hard to follow as the cup does not respond the way the instructions state. At times, no matter what, the cup does not turn on unless it is plugged in, even when its battery is full. Then the temp control sometimes starts on its own and sometimes doesn't. All in all, too many inconsistencies, it would have been ok for a Beta test, but not as a final product. I am returning it ... show more
