    • It works... slowly
I purchased and started using this product product in mid April and am writing this review at the end of July after using the product weekly. Hair removal is happening but more slowly than advertised and it seems like progress is slowing down. 3 months in and I'd say maybe I'm about halfway to totally clear on my underarms and 75% on my legs/bikini area). I have medium-fare skin but dark coarse hair. The speed of the flashes is also slowing down - I used to be able to do my lower legs with the fast speed and now I need to let the product rest otherwise the way between flashes is several seconds. In hindsight I wish I had invested in a higher end product that worked faster... ... show more

Product is very bad quality. It starts good and flashes are fast, but after less than 1 minute, I guess it overheats and speed of flashes slow down. Also after few minutes, flashed change from red to yellow and I need to turn it off because it looks and sounds like it will explode. I can't finish even 1 leg before I need to turn it off.     • Not for dark skin
Although this may be a great product, I was disappointed to find it will not work on dark skin. I do appreciate that it didn’t work because it would be unsafe but wish I could find an at home option for laser hair removal.

I have reviewed a LOT of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices at this point. And, frankly, most of them are very similar. So when one isn't like all the others, it really stands out. This one is not like all the others. What makes it different? The refractory rate. That's the rate between light pulses. For most of these IPL devices, there's a 2-4 second interval between light pulses, as the device recharges. Since you need to apply many pulses in a treatment session, that can add up. This IPL device, on the other hand, is capable of more than one pulse per second. This is not just PR. I tested it and you can very obviously observe the difference. It's quite amazing, actually, how much more efficient this IPL device is than most of the others. Of course, quality doesn't come cheap, and this is priced at the higher end of the spectrum. But you're getting something for that money. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal. ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** No LCD screen. ** No user-adjustable power levels. ** "Oblong" shaped unit--a bit cumbersome in the hand ** The power supply is permanently attached to the IPL device. ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for an "unlimited" number of flashes. Operation is trivial: 1) Attach the wall plug to the power supply (the device is NOT battery operated--you must have it plugged in). 2) The device turns on. There is no power button. You turn it on or off by plugging or unplugging it from the wall. 3) Hold the head of the device against your skin. The power button turns purple to indicate that it has detected contact with skin. 4) Push the button for the IPL flash. 5) Move to the next area and repeat. That's it. This is most simple IPL device I've ever tested. No LCD screen. No buttons (except the flash button). Not even an on/off switch. But what it lacks in there it makes up with the very fast flashing capability. Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). The light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you only get the IPL tool with attached power supply, and a short cable that connects the power supply to AC wall power. That's pretty bare bones as these kits go, but, honestly, you don't really need the cheap sunglasses or disposable razor that are usually tossed in. (I would recommend wearing a pair of sunglasses while using this, just to protect your eyes). While this is one of the more expensive IPL devices you'll find on Amazon, it justifies that price with the extremely fast flashing capability. I don't love the ergonomics of the IPL device (I would prefer a "gun" shaped unit), but since you'll be holding it a lot less long, that's probably a reasonable tradeoff. ... show more

Like most others that are vine members. I’ve acquired my fair share of IPL’s. This is the first that is actually FDA approved that I’ve managed to try ( aside from buying them from tv networks chnnls). This one is pretty unique looking. It’s smaller than another one in this same brand I got. Descent cord length. It’s pricey I will say and it would be nice if it had interchangeable parts like some other newer IPLs I’ve tried that have been an unknown brand. The parts those had like red light blue light for facial or acne. Aside from that this is pretty awesome that it’s unlimited flashes. If I were to go back in time. I would say I would invest my money into unlimited flash devices. Especially if you are very good at routines. This only requires once a week exposure to the areas that you cover. I’ve got fair skin and deep coarse brunette colored hair and it accepted my skin tone. It feels like warmth when it hits your skin, those that may be more sensitive should take an ibuprofen or something before using to help take the edge off.
