I have these in a couple tanks, my intended purpose is to allow fish fry to hide in them. They will definitely work for that. They are soft to the touch and would be usable for Betta fish tanks. You can tell they're fake plants but they're not as gaudy as others being sold.     • This decoration almost killed our betta please be careful!

We purchased this decoration to give our betta some more spots to hide in, we saw that it had great reviews so we didn't think twice about introducing it into his tank. Please be aware that the tallest portion of the main decoration is hollow. Our little guy swam up there, but with how it is constructed, did not have enough room to drop down and swim out of the little cave portion. We woke to find him completely vertical in the fixture, unable to reach the surface for air or move to have water filter through his gills, for God knows how long and we had to pull the piece well off the bottom of the tank so that he could drop from it. We are still keeping an eye on him, he was completely immobile when we first took him out- we don't want this to happen to another family. It was heartbreaking! The decoration was really cool but should only be used for much smaller fish that can turn around once they explore the upper part of the cave. ... show more
