I have had a Giro helmet for 15 years, maybe longer. It fits comfortable and has the old SkulCandy speakers in the ear pockets - Great Sound! Last year I was standing in a lift line with a friend of mine I hadn't skied with before. He is very loud talker. It was something like "OMG - HOW OLD IS THAT HELMET!" I didn't think much of it as he started rambling on about how the plastic molding doesn't just break down, it becomes harder over time. About this time 2 guys directly in front of us chime in and all three of them had this new MIPS tech. That made an impression I didn't forget. Back home I did my research and then went to REI to try on a few helmets. They didn't have this set up in stock so I ordered it here. I have a large melon and sometimes an XL is not XL enough.     • Great helmet, but liked the Level better. Fit was smaller than Smith sizing guide suggested.

I bought both the Vantage and the Level helmet and tired them both given the overwhelming similarities. They were both extremely comfortable and offered very similar protection with MIPS. They both fit my Smith 4D goggles perfectly. The $50 incremental price for the Vantage just didn't see to make sense given the fit was similar. I also felt the Level had a little sleeker look to it. So, cooler looking helmet and $50 cheaper was a deal-maker for me. In terms of sizing, I ordered both helmets in L and XL. I measured my melon repeatedly and it was clear that I needed a L based on Smith's sizing guide. Well, the online reviews were all spot on in that both of these helmets ran small. I ended up with an XL in both helmets. The L helmets were fairly snug, and with the BOA Fit (Vantage) or VaporFit (Smith version of BOA on the Level) sizing dials, there is no need to buy a smaller helmet since the fit can be adjusted perfectly. Don't hesitate to buy this helmet, just order a size bigger than you think you'll need. ... show more

I was excited to get this helmet in the mail. Then I opened it. I can't believe this seller would use a picture of the black and green 2019 helmet and then send a different version of the helmet and it was WOMENS, not UNISEX. SUPER DISAPPOINTED with this vendor :( . Will be returning. SIDE NOTE: My head is 57cm and Medium is 55cm-59cm. HELMET IS WAY TOO TIGHT. I got a headache after 2 minutes of wear. 5 stars for features and build quality. Now take away 2 stars for sizing inaccuracy. I have a Smith Variant Brim (Large 59-63)from 07-08 that I absolutely love. I bought the same size for the Vantage hoping it would fit as well as the Variant. Sadly it did not fit well. Too snug around the top of my head. Whatever size you normally wear, I recommend getting the next size up for the Vantage. I ended up returning the Vantage, and buying a Smith Variance (large) that fit my head much better. The Variance appears to be a refreshed Variant Brim, which I like. ... show more

    • Protected me in a nasty fall

Bought this helmet before a trip to Alta and I'm very glad I did. I managed to get stuck in a whiteout and took a nasty fall off of a traverse. I hit my head on some hard packed snow and briefly lost consciousness. I am certain that if I was not wearing a helmet of this caliber, I could have been much more seriously injured.     • A solid choice for a ski helmet

Bought this for a recent ski trip to Switzerland. I did have to send it back once and size up (from L to XL - I wear about a 7.5 baseball cap), but once I had the correct size, this helmet was fantastic. Do allow yourself extra time in case the size isn't what you expect. It was super comfortable, the vents cool the helmet well on warmer days, and slide shut when things get colder. The two separate vent adjustments are easily operated with gloved hands. The removable ear warmers keep everything toasty. The helmet is lightweight thanks to the Koroyd structure. My large Oakley goggles fit the face cutout perfectly. The only additional item I'd recommend is a head sock for the coldest of days or when blowing snow really kicks up. Helps cover your face and neck and any gaps between your goggles and the helmet, and was especially useful while skiing on an especially windy and stormy day. ... show more

Helmet looks awesome and top quality, but the sizing is completely wrong. I bought this helmet in XLarge (63-67cm) size, as my head is 61.5cm, but the helmet is so small, I cannot even past my head through to put it on, no choice but to return it. Unfortunately, they do not have any larger size.

Incredible helmet light weight yet fancy, fits perfectly, must have helmet! Def worth the price! I couldn’t figure out where to put my AirPods quality drops drastically! You can’t put the AirPods and then the helmet cuz it’s really snug and it will hurt your ear! So if you’re looking for a helmet that allows good quality music this isn’t it!
