  • Battery lasts longer and holds more liquid than comparable heated mugs.
Color: Black
The best comparison for this mug is the ember heated mug. A family member has an Ember, and I decided to try the Vsitoo S-3 mostly because it holds 12 ounces and the battery is supposed to last 4 hours. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance so far. It does hold more coffee/tea than the Ember. Admittedly, the Ember looks a bit nicer and the Ember app is definitely more user friendly, but the truth is you don't need the app for the S3, which is a really nice added feature. The S3 has a haptic button on the mug to allow you to switch the temperature directly on the mug (you can also do it via the app). The mug's indicators are in Celsius (while the app allows you to view in Fahrenheit). Once you convert once through you it's easy enough to remember that 55 Celsius is 135 Fahrenheit. I tend to keep my mug set around 55-60 Celsius (temps go up to 65C). Higher temps do impact battery life, but the S3 still heats for an extended period of time. One other thing to keep in mind, the mug works best when you start with hot liquid (so that it's not working to heat the liquid, but instead maintaining temperature). The S3 also tends to retain more heat and for longer periods of time when you leave the travel cover on. Because the mug's heating element is at the bottom, leaving the cover on will also help keep the liquid higher up hotter. I don't mind this, but some people may prefer to use the mug without a cover. The mug is really well packaged too; I was surprised by this. Finally, other reviews have already commented on the app. While the android version is a little rough around the edges, honestly once you pair the mug to the app. there's not much more to do, and because there is a haptic button right on the mug, I rarely use the app anyway. If the amount of liquid held in the mug and the overall heating time of the mug are important considerations for you, I think the S3 is a smart purchase. UPDATE 1-29-21- I've ran into some issues with the app and a firmware update. Vsitoo customer servicer responded quickly and I was able to resolve the issue. Great service! ... show more

  • Update: stopped charging, chipping on enamel has gotten worse from just basic washing.
Color: Black
I've been using this for about a month now at work. I work in as tech at an art school, and am frequently called on to rush to one of the 8 or so buildings to fix things unexpectedly, so my solution was a smart mug or thermos - I've used thermos' before and they work great but are hard to clean without a dishwasher, and I wanted something I could leave at a specific temp if I needed to run out quickly without my coffee cooling off too much. This works almost perfectly for my purposes. Is it worth 100ish bucks? Probably not. Your coffee will stay hot for 8 hours or so in a thermos type container. But if you think it's cool, go for it. The software for android works, but it's kind of a hassle and was fidgety with setting specific temps and when I get to work I don't want to open an app and connect to BT just to drink my coffee. I found it easier to just hold the button under the mug down (AFTER adding coffee - it will auto shut down if no heat is detected, a feature I do like) which powers it on and will restore the mug to the temperature you had selected when you powered it down. I like that it remembers. Touch control is a bit skittish but works well, especially after I updated the firmware - which works via bluetooth in the app - it took me about 30 tries before it fully downloaded and installed. Maybe network interference. The settings are written in Centigrade, not Fahrenheit, which can be confusing for those unfamiliar. I found keeping the touch light button set to 55C (131F) was the perfect drinking temp. It goes up two more notches, up to 65C, which to me was a bit too hot. 55 or the next step up are the settings I find to be most comfortable for me. You can use the app to dial in a specific temp in theory but the notched touch setting works good enough. You can use the mug off the charger, but I keep it on my desk because I never really take it on walks. The charge time appears to be sufficient. The mug will shut off if it detects that there's nothing in mug to heat up (eventually), to protect the circuitry inside. It can be washed by hand quickly and easily. The metal with enamel coating is fine, but the handle came with a tiny chip in it (I highlighted the chip in the photo - it's blurry) small issue for me, considering an alternative Ember mug is about 50 bucks more than what I payed at the time of purchase, but paying 100 bucks for a fancy mug and the first thing I see is a tiny chip in it was a bit unsettling. Maybe I'm just unlucky. That said, the packaging was a near-Apple level experience, making me feel like it might be a massive waste if the mugs are still going to come chipped. I'm a critical person, but these things are very small when considering the value and performance, in my opnion. The handle of the mug is wide enough to hold comfortably, but has no "meat" to it due to probably trying to make is less heavy, but once you get used to it isn't a problem. It'd be nice if the handle was more ergonomic in some way, but not really a big deal. The mug is fairly heavy, but not much heavier than a solid, decent ceramic mug. The charger is proprietary as far as I can tell, which is a bit annoying since I often want to bring the coaster charge plate and mug home for a long weekend but wrapping up the charger is a hassle. I have many GaN and smart chargers from wattages going to 120W+ so I don't understand why I need to use THIS usb-C charger. A bit annoying but minor. I really really like this mug. It's not without it's minor flaws, but I found most of them to be small enough to give it a pass. It keeps my coffee where I like it, and looks pretty sharp, and that's worth saving 50 or so bucks! I say if you're thinking about it, give this one a solid try - worst case, you return it if you decide it's not for you. Update: My mug just randomly stopped charging up. The light comes when on the base, but it doesn't seem to be taking a charge. I'm not sure what the deal is but now I own a very expensive not-great mug. Just buy an embr. ... show more

  • Better than Ember
Color: Black
My coffee often sits on my desk waiting for a sip. And waiting. And waiting. When I finally get to it, it's cold. So I tried a hot-plate mug warmer. In the same time it used to take my coffee to get cold, it got burned instead. And so would my tongue. This mug, however, is the perfect solution - maintaining that perfect temperature over hours without burning or getting cold. I particularly like the VSITOO S3 Pro. I tried the 14 oz Ember Mug² and it fell short in two key areas: blue tooth connectivity and battery life off the charger. That's where Vsitoo has it beat. While the Ember's blue tooth required frequent re-pairing, Vsitooo's is stable and solid. And while the off-the-charger battery life for the Ember saw my coffee go colder faster than if it was in a Yeti double-walled mug, the S3 last longer and actually will charge while keeping the coffee hot. When I saw my Ember getting below 20%, I'd head back to the charger - but that only kept it warm and did not re-juice the battery for another EVA. I won't even get into the frustration of Ember's failure to update firmware at 50% - you can do a Google search and see how many of their customers are dealing with that (Ember customer support had no suggestions other than that the mug still works with the older firmware. Yikes.) The on-cup temperature adjust is both good and bad - good in that I can enjoy a cup of coffee in the S3 without turning on my phone. The bad is that my fingers often glance over the touch-button, requiring me to reset the temperature. There is a tactile vibration when that happens though, so at least I'm not surprised to find a cold cup of coffee, not knowing that I accidently hit the button earlier. Quality/build is identical to the Ember from everything I can see - perhaps a bit more plastic on the base but nothing I ever notice, since I don't carry the base around. ... show more
