These nice clamps work just as expected. Since they are made of some composite material I am hopeful that it will weather well outdoors in my application. The spring is very strong - but manageable with the 6 inch handles. Very nice clamps. Addendum: There does not seem to be a way to rate the 4 inch clamps - but I would give then 4 stars instead of 5. I have these spring clamps along a 4" fence top, and they are great at holding the plant netting for blueberry protection against the birds. I can tell that heavy winds or storms won't be moving them.

These are really nice clamps for holding cards and bonding in some modeling applications. The problem with them is that they are a non-obvious compromise. For holding fabrics, the yellow pads should have more surface roughness or pressure, whereas for clamping flats the smooth pads are preferred or mandatory. For clamping parts, moderate force is needed, but for some of my applications 1/2 or less of the force provided is needed (on my shipment 12 lbs - measured at the pad over 0.48 sq in or 25 psi with the jaws 1/8 inch apart. Higher forces are experienced at greater openings). For some of my holding needs 3-5 lbs would be preferable. These are very "strong" for 4 inch polymer clamps. However the force seems inadequate for normal "1-by" woodworking, fine for smaller stock and frames, and too strong for pressure sensitive flat clamping. Overall, I like them and intend to use them for applications they fit, but a version with adjustable spring force would be "the bees knees", especially since the force provided is a function of the opening angle. ... show more

I like the variety of sizes for different uses. I use the largest to clamp shut my outdoor garbage cans... it is the only thing the racoons can't defeat. The smallest I use to hold a receiving blanket in place on the stroller to keep the sun out of my grandson's eyes. These little clamps have a fair amount of clamping pressure, and the clamping pads have a surface that has a tendency to grab other surfaces easily. They are easy to find on the crowded workbench. They are quickly becoming my go-to clamp for clamping thin plywood surfaces.

If you plan to use these in light duty work then they will work fine. These were purchased due to not wanting steel clamps that have cheap plastic on the clamping part of the tool that wear out quickly and can damage soft material. That being said they are weak due to their plastic design and one of the tips has now broken on me. However I did you them for some medium duty type of work. Like I said for some real light duty work they will be fine, but if you want heavy duty go to Harbor Freight and get some steel clamps that have a thick rubber tip on them as I have just recently fount out. ... show more
