  • It Runs it All
I've been using this for over a year now to play League, Monster Hunter, etc. Before this, I was a laptop gamer with 8gb of ram. Now I can be in a Discord call, stream, and play my games and have browser tabs open with absolutely no problem and it's incredible. The PC just runs and works; I haven't had any problems. I take care of it well and make sure to update my drivers whenever a new one comes out. I was going to build my own PC but this was when parts were scarce and EXPENSIVE (they're still scarce and expensive) and this was basically everything I was looking for and a great price. I also love the mouse that came with it. I finally know what it's like to not have lag; 10/10 recommend. ... show more

  • Not a bad little nugget
So this is a long one: If you're ordering this during the pandemic and parts shortages. Just know that your build may look different than mine, I'm just listing all the components so that everybody has an idea of the quality of parts that are selected. Graphics: GIGABYTE RTX 3060 Motherboard: ASROCK b550m/ac Case: inwin 101 with fans PSU: inwin 650w gold RAM: couldn't make out the brand M.2: Intel 670p series Cooling: Cooler master (not an AIO) CPU: intel as listed. These guys know their target audience and they offer a great bang for buck in terms of prebuilt. Components are good brands as far as I can tell, and nothing is a no-name cheap supplier. System POSTs like it should put the box and comes shipped WITH foam in the case to prevent any shock and for the LTT fans out there it comes with the soft foam around the case not the cheap styrofoam that breaks apart when you breathe on it. Case fans come with a controller and it's all setup and pretty much ready to go. Honestly, I was expecting less but in pleasantly surprised. Very pleasantly surprised. Also as address extras they come with a mouse and what looks like a membrane keyboard so if you want to save up for nice peripherals this will have everything you need to get started besides the monitor. ... show more

  • Amazing PC, but don’t…..
Love the system and works great! However, do NOT Install Windows 11. During setup it asks you if you want to upgrade for free and says (recommended). Crashed my system and getting a hold of support is ridiculous. You have to leave a message and someone gets back to you a day and a half later. I explain the windows 11 issue and he says it happens all the time. Would have be nice to know that before installing it then. So had to flash drive Windows 10 and go through lengthy process of wiping out 11. PC is great though. ... show more

  • Be careful with prebuilt computers
I decided to go with a prebuilt computer to save some time. Computer showed up and I followed the start up directions to a T, computer crashed 6 times in 2 days and games/applications would constantly crash. Contacted customer support and ran some diagnostics and computer had bad RAM. They gave me my options for repair: I remove the RAM and send it to them and then they will send me a replacement, I give them a deposit and then they will send me new RAM while I send the other back, or I just contact Amazon and return it. The service tech was fairly friendly but I wasn’t super thrilled with my options, the computer came with documentation that it was working 100% correctly prior to shipment which I get things happen but the quickest option for repair required me giving them my credit info (not super keen about) and that still would’ve been 7-9 business days. The option of I remove my RAM and send it in would take over 3 weeks to get my computer functioning properly again. I also felt it was unnecessary to replace the entire computer just for bad ram. Just seems fishy that they were super adamant about getting the bad ram back, kind of makes me think they will repair it and stick it in another prebuilt. ... show more

  • Stable, Clean Build for Reasonable Price
Randomly Amazon had a $200 discount on Skytech Shiva with the following specs: i5-11400f, 3060 (12 GB), 16 GB Ram, 1 TB NVMe. This took the list price from $1,399 to $1,199. I had just spent the last week configuring different builds in PcPartPicker and was consistently landing between $800-$1000 for similar components, but without a GPU. So as soon as I saw the discounted price, I decided to take the plunge. Skytech markets themselves as a PC builder "for gamers, by gamers" which means they seek to maximize price to performance while using name-brand components. While I was waiting during the two-day shipping window, I read reviews of Skytech outside of Amazon where their kits average 4+ stars. Well ... Reddit is full of horror stories, which gave me anxiety about this purchase, but knowing that I have 30-days of risk-free protection from Amazon I decided to stay the course. Packaging: 4.5 / 5 The case comes in a branded oversized draw-string bag and sandwiched between styrofoam pillars all perfectly fitted to the delivery box. Inside you receive a QC form with a date & signature (mine was performed January 28, 2022); a folder with some advice on how to maintain the PC, troubleshooting instructions if the system doesn't boot, and a Support contact card. Additionally, you receive an individually packaged mouse and full-size keyboard, both with braided cables. Inside the case itself to protect the GPU and the CPU, they have a fit-to-form bubble shield. Case & Components: 4 / 5 The case is a custom mid-sized tower with glass panel (with easy push-in, pop-out access) and all metal frame sitting on plastic feet. It feels sturdy and well made with no visible defects or marks. Inside the attention to detail continues with all cables carefully tied back. All case fans are linked to a small fan controller with a button to cycle through RGB patterns (I prefer the default "breathing" pattern.) The motherboard is an MSI b560m pro-vdh wifi ($129)--it's well reviewed and offers WiFi 6 and Gen-4 PCIe; the CPU is actually the i5-11400 model (no "f") which means it has an iGPU ($179); stock CPU cooler; the Ram is ADATA XPG Gammix D20 ($60); the NVMe drive is a Gen3 Western Digital Blue ($95); and the GPU is the Gigabyte Gaming 3060 OC 12 GB ($799). Overall, I'm pleased with the components, but for the price point I'd prefer to see G.Skill Ram ($89), a non-stock CPU cooler ($45), and the NVMe upgraded to Gen4 WD Black ($99). First Boot & Set-up: 5 / 5 Booted instantly with zero issues. The Windows 10 set-up took maybe an hour and a half to go through all the system updates and install the free Windows 11 upgrade. The BIOS boot is maybe too fast--you get half a second to hit "delete" to enter the BIOS which I needed to do to enable the XMP profile on the RAM for 3200 Mhz speed. There is zero bloatware from Skytech. Of the 1 TB, 970 GB were free for me to use. System Performance: 4.5. / 5 My biggest issue so far is the noise-level of the case fans. I live in a one-bedroom apartment, and I can easily hear the fans anywhere in my apartment. It's not jet-engine, but it's full-bodied. I can hear them over my headphones, and right now as I have music playing on my bookshelf speakers, I can still hear the fans. This can apparently be changed in the BIOS, but I find MSI's EZBoot menu not that easy (compared to Asus). After the 30-day return window, I'll likely replace the fans with some Noctuas. I specifically bought this in preparation for Total War: Warhammer 3, as well as to play Halo Infinite & Forza Horizon 5 with my buddies. Warhammer 3 isn't out yet ... and Halo Infinite is being buggy, BUT I did benchmark Warhammer 2 and with Ultra for 1080p it's averaging 90 FPs. I did run into an issue last night where the Wi-Fi kept dropping my signal during an online Age of Empires 4 co-op. My previous computer had a 1650 OC and while it ran these games fine, there was constant screen-tearing. So far with the 3060, there's been zero tearing and no frame-rate dropping. Overall system performance is fast, responsive, and reliable. Temps are in 70s for CPU and GPU during gaming. Summary: The next choice from Skytech is the $1,599 variant with a 5600x and 3060ti. That $200 (14%) increase over the list price $1,399 for the 11400f and 3060 could seem worth it. The 3060ti alone benchmarks about 40% faster than the 3060. However, a couple things to consider: 1. Your state tax. Mine is 8.75% which makes things $1,738 (5600x) vs $1,521 (11400 list) vs $1,303 (11400 discount). 2. The premium you pay for pre-built. Assuming Skytech can get components at wholesale the markups are likely the following: $550 (5600x) vs $450 (11400 list) vs $250 (11400 discount). After tax and premium, your price to performance diminishes quite a bit by upgrading your tiers with Skytech. That said, with Skytech you seem to be getting a great product that works out of the box and since you and I can't buy wholesale--Skytech's pricing compared to build-your-own isn't that crazy. AND if you can snag a discount like I did, even better. ... show more
