  • Incredible build quality, great look, and overall great value
Size: 3 Meter Color: A Pair-Black
I was a little concerned reading some reviews -- these cables may have been listed as selling separately in the past -- as in, one speaker cable per item. As it is now, you get a pair of cables, which was a welcome sight when they arrived. Worry not, this is for a PAIR of speaker cables. As for the cables themselves -- they're packaged in a very attractive gift box, and as all high line SKW cables, each metal connector barrel as well as the metal splitters are all covered in an easily removed soft plastic jacket to keep them from getting scratched. The cables are *massive*, indeed overbuilt, and judging from the actual conductor size (12AWG?), a lot of this girth is insulation (story of my life). Still -- I love the gorgeous machined connectors, the non-snag nylon braiding, and the high quality of the actual cable contained within. I don't subscribe to the audiophile voodoo that cables need to be broken in, and I don't purport to be able to hear the difference between copper crystals grown on utopian communes at organic copper foundries on black sand Fijian beaches, and ones put together in the basement of some guy named Eugene in Poughkeepsie. That said, good cables sound better, and bad cables can sound, well, bad... and these sound fantastic. Currently running them through custom adaptors into a rebuilt Kenwood KA-8100, and then to early 80's Klipsch Heresy's -- the sound has a sense of force and authority that is every bit the Heresy's being assertive and horn-y, but also an indicator of capable high-current conductors. I did end up elevating the cables (what did I say about voodoo?) with some antique ceramic electrical utility pole insulators, partly to just keep the beautiful cables up off the floor, and also because... can't hurt? In the grand scheme of speaker cables, these are a deal, and in the grand scheme of speaker cables, these are wonderfully functional. I know there's hundreds of offerings out there going for large portions of my yearly salary, and if you can afford to spend that much on a piece of wire, well, I have a bridge you may be interested in buying. SKW does a great job with cables, fit and finish, and SQ, and I've been happy with every single purchase I've made from them, including these beauties. ... show more

  • These are VERY GOOD cables for the money!
Size: 2.5 Meter Color: Single-Black
I was watching an audio review of these SKW cables on You tube and owning an old pair of MIT (see photo) S1 cables I was curious to hear how they would stack up! The MIT cables I purchased quite some time ago and I think they were about $400 or $500 dollars. I have always been a believer that on some level speaker cables do indeed sound different depending on the materials used to construct them. The reviewer was very surprised at the sound quality of these SKW cables and also the construction as well and for the asking price he considered SKW a steal in the audiophile world. I have seen so many reviews on super expensive cables and at the other end of the spectrum inexpensive cables. The general consensus is that there is not really that much of a difference and that a it is always better to buy inexpensive cables instead. Well.. considering RF noise interference measurements proving that the purer the copper, the quality of the shielding and connectors the clearer the sound quality will be. That was my reasoning behind purchasing the MIT S1 at the time, They have always had favorable reviews the MIT's ( I thought ) were pretty reasonable for the price and performance and for years I have enjoyed them. But one thing's a bit annoying about them that they have always been a tad sharp in the highs and lacking a bit in the bass and mids. They rely heavily on the source material but still a great sounding detailed cable all around. The thing that caught my attention about the SKW review was that the reviewer commented on how well theses cable recreate bass and mid frequencies I thought Hmm..that's interesting maybe I should give these a try I may be pleasantly surprised. See..I recently upgraded my audio system to a studio monitor book shelf speaker set up with the Polk audio R200's in white on speaker stands at the helm! The six and a half woofer needs a little kick in the speaker bass pants to come alive. Powered by two Crown Audio 1502's in bridge mode (1500 watts per channel ) did the trick and the SKW helped the R200 dramatically in the bass dept as well. Jazz guitar like Pat Metheny or the fusion works of guitarist of Allan Holdsworth's mid frequency guitar sound provides a smoothness that is kind of eerie coming out of a speaker so small and unobtrusive. Jaco's Donna lee fretless bass solo sounded tightly controlled with bouts of some lower frequencies hoping through the SKW cable with all the finess and then some bass I think most of us would ever need. Now for all of you audio enthusiasts that believe speaker cables don't matter much you have to give these cables try WOW! very surprising for $170 the build quality is just as good as the MIT's as a matter of fact I think it's better especially the connectors. The SKW's are a smooth sounding cable with very good bass and superb mid range response (better that the MIT S1) with a little bit of roll off in the highs VERY CONTROLLED roll off! They handle edgy and bright recordings really well! Everything for classical to metal sounds exceptionally good played though these speaker cables. This is a really good time for budget audiophile's SKW is proof of it. ... show more

  • Excellent build quality and sound
Size: 3 Meter Color: A Pair-Black
If you look at what many high end cable makers are doing with construction and features, SKW does at a much lower price point but with the same or better quality. I've owned many speaker cables and interconnects from multiple audiophile wire companies. First, the OCC. Ohno Continuous Crystal. OCC cables are special because of the way the copper thread is extruded. It reduces signal degradation. There aren't many companies in the world who are capable and licensed to manufacture it. I suspect hat SKW is the shadow builder for many other cable companies. The insulating ferrite filter is another value-added feature. The filter removes interference (noise) while passing through the music signal. The sound is balanced and smooth. Refined and with no loss of detail. I love them so much I've gone back and purchased their locking interconnects and another set of speaker cables for another system in my home. The closer you look, the better they look. They come with changeable spades and bananas so you can get the exact connections you want. All-in-all an outstanding value for an excellent cable. ... show more
