    • It is a lifesaver, with a few small flaws, and a huge price tag.

I’ve only had the Sit n Stand for a few days, but so far it is a lifesaver. However, there are a few things I would like to see changed (fixed). I have a muscle disease with no cure. In the past couple of years I’ve gone from being able to get out of almost any chair, to not being able to stand up unless the seat is at least 24” high. It has made visiting people, going out to eat, going to the theater, etc… a near impossibility. That was until I got the Sit n Stand. As long at the seat is at least 16” from the floor, by using the Sit n Stand I can easily stand up. There are a couple of things that prevent the Sit n Stand from getting 5 stars. First there is no on/off switch. The only way to turn off the blinking light on the remote and preventing the Sit n Stand from accidently activating is to remove the battery every time after use. Why in the world would you not include an on/off switch? Second is the size. Why do you need such a large back? For most chairs this is a huge overkill, and leaves the battery/pump unit hanging off the back of the chair too much. If nothing else it should either a Velcro or Elastic strap to hold it in place. Third is the battery. Why is it every medical device has to have its own special battery that they completely rip off the consumer to replace? Shame on you. Lastly is the price. I hesitated for months before buying this because of the price. I used to work in product design for 40 years, and I know the cost of engineering and tooling custom products. However, this is basically a little battery operated compressor and 4 air blathers built into a seat cushion. I know the cost is high, because the market is small. I have two bad knees which makes it difficult to sit or stand without intense pain. I purchased two other brands which were unsatisfactory. I bought the SitnStand unit in March of this year and have been very satisfied with the performance of this product. I had a service question about the operation of my unit. After reviewing the manual I did find a website and a email. I contacted the customer service through the email. My question were answered with no delay. I have some heart problems and a recent fall down my basement stairs. My legs are weak and i was unable to get up from my favorite chair without calling for help. The SitnStand is very comfortable and raises me up when I want to stand making exiting the chair easy. Just what I was looking for.     • Great concept, but didn't work for our elderly loved one.
I gulped at the price but decided this would be a good alternative to buying a powerlift recliner chair for our elderly loved one who experiences great difficulty rising from her chair. She has severe osetoarthitis in her legs and walks with difficulty with a cane. I liked the fact it was portable. It appears to be good qualify but it did not push her high enough out of the chair, nor did she feel balanced as it lifted her. It was packaged well with clear instructions. It is amazing. My husband is undergoing chemotherapy which makes him weak. He’s also tall, and by adding this either to our patio chairs or to a wheelchair, etc., he can get up and down by himself. This also helps protect my back because he has the freedom to be able to take care of himself.

My family bought this chair lift for our elderly mother who has difficulty standing up from a chair. Her ability to get up from a chair directly affects her ability to continue to live in her own home, so it was important that we find a solution. She has a large recliner lift chair in her living room, but we were not able to find a smaller chair appropriate for sitting at a kitchen table. The SitnStand Portable Smart Rising Seat was the answer to a prayer! It works beautifully on her kitchen chair and provides comfortable seating for extending periods of time (she spends hours each morning sitting at the table). The controls are easy for Mom to use, and she enjoys the independence it gives her. She has not been able to stand up from the kitchen table on her own for at least a year, but the the SitnStand, she rises with ease, safely and comfortably every time. We had one glitch with the unit, however, but it was resolved to our complete satisfaction. After working perfectly for about two weeks, it began to malfunction. The user manual's trouble shooting suggestion worked for a day or so, but then it would only inflate to one level. I contacted customer service immediately via email and received an quick response. The customer service rep. offered to send a new unit immediately--it arrived 3 days later. The new unit works flawlessly and Mom comments every day that she doesn't know what she'd do without it. Another plus is that if electric power should fail for any reason, the SitnStand can be moved to her living room recliner so that she can stand. The portability is a real plus. I cannot recommend this product enough. It is a fantastic product and fills a real need for elderly or disabled people. Thank you for inventing such a life-changing product. ... show more
