These are perfect for beginning with an embroidery machine. Having most colors at your disposal makes any project possible and then if you want any special or additional colors it isn’t much to get one or two more. Awesome variety and they work great, some of the colors seem a bit more brittle and break easier, like the bright orange, however that isn’t a huge loss with the shear amount of colors available. This is the second time I have ordered a set of 63 Simthread Brother colors. I have tried other colors from other brands but these are beyond doubt my favourite colors! No matter what color I need, I always tend to find it in this set. It may be hard to see from the picture but the kitchen towel's color is beige. The Simthread color I chose for this project, is so close to the towel. When making monograms on kitchen towels I like to use a single color for that subtle effect. This thread is not dull, nor is it overly shiny. To me it's the golden middle road. I have yet to find a set like this with a better cost to value ratio. I have had one thread snap, otherwise the thread has been holding up very well. It might be the thread I started with were too long and got caught up though, so I wouldn't neccesarily blame the one mistanke on the thread. The cones are easy to set up and use. I normally sew on cotton or stretch fabric, both out of which work well. When doing embroidery on stretch fabric, I use stabilizer both under as well as over the fabric. There is a color chart included in the Package, which is useful if you need to look up a color. Otherwise I myself enjoy the fun of doing the color matching myself. ... show more

All the colors in this are extremely vivid. I highly recommend getting this product just because of the vivid colors and ammount of colors the embroidery thread has. Quality is amazing, breaking strength is pretty high for thread. Easily found. Don't use the spool keepers... they don't work to well.

Update: went to m first embroidery class where I bought my machine. The instructor was a professional seamstress and had an embroidery business outside the shop where I bought my machine. She was contracted to teach the class. After the class she saw me putting up my thread and started asking me questions on where I bought such high quality thread in a nice variety of colors. When I told her Amazon and the price I paid she was absolutely shocked. She told me that was very good thread at an amazing price and took down the information so she could buy some and tell others. Considering this was my first thread purchase as a new user, I'm definitely buying again after getting so many nice comments from expert users! I'm a new embroidery machine user and bought this because it gave me a nice variety of colors to start with. I belong to an embroidery group that meets once a month to do embroidery together and they told me to get rayon because it's shinier and this is polyester but such a good deal I bought it anyway. I took it to my embroidery group yesterday and they were amazed at the quality of the thread and how shiny and pretty it was-they really thought it was rayon. They calculated the cost per spool and said I got a better deal than they have ever gotten on thread and these ladies are experienced embroider machine users. Now they want to buy this thread for their use. I felt good knowing these experts validated this was a great purchase. I liked the fact it is packaged in a nice size box that I can take with me to our group meetings every month and I have every color I need for my projects. I highly recommend this thread for anyone starting out their thread collection or wanting to add a lot of great colors at an affordable price. ... show more
