  • Great value
Color: CarbonFiber S2
I was skeptical that this would be any good but it is actually perfect. Unbelievable for the price. A bit of flex in the wheel but barely noticeable and the buttons work great

  • I'm genuinely surprised...
Color: CarbonFiber S2
I've been using this wheel/hub combo for the past few hours and I have to give it to Simsonn; I am actually surprised. Also, a disclaimer is I like my stuff to be top quality so I'm not going to say this is a perfect wheel and hub combo because it's cheap. But I do guarantee, for the price and what you get, it is a very good deal. Most mid to high end wheel hub button boxes on the market are at least $300 or $400 and that doesn't even include the wheel. I was very skeptical when I purchased this as the price seemed too good to be true but I can attest it is legit. I purchased the "carbon fiber S2" variant which comes with a carbon fiber hub and (as shown) a round alcantara 13" steering wheel rim. Also included is a USB cable, a "SIMSONN" wheel hub cover and some M5x45mm countersunk mounting screws. The description says this works with logitech and thrustmaster bases but I cannot see how that would work unless you had some crazy adapters being used and were on PC. The hub is very nice but it does have a little bit of a cheap feel (kind of expected for the price). All of the LED buttons have a very mushy feel and all of the rotary knobs feel a bit wobbly but there’s nothing that’s a deal breaker. A big gripe I have are the shifter paddles as they flex very easily and the force needed to actuate them is very low. That may be more of a personal preference but all the mid to higher end wheels I've used (even fanatec) require a bit more force to actuate. The buttons and rotaries are pretty crazy to me (in a good way). The two rotaries on the back seem to output just a switch up or switch down signal (good for like adjusting brake bias up and down). There are also two up/down switches near the top on either side. The two rotaries on the front is where the cool stuff is. Pretty much, you can set the rotary on the right for the rotary on the left to control (what they try to say in the description and pictures). This is super useful as you have so many different button outputs you can map; something my $800 Sim Racing Bay GT3 wheel doesn’t have even though having multiple rotary dials. For example, you can set the rotary on the right to adjust ABS and use the rotary on the left to actually adjust it. Then, say, you can set the rotary on the right to TCS (traction control) and be able to control and set that with the rotary on the left. The wheel that comes with it is nice but don’t be deceived; even though it is pictured as an OMP wheel I really don’t think it’s genuine. The wheel is okay and does work very well but there is a good amount of flex in it, something I wouldn’t think a real OMP wheel would have. The suede or alcantra seems a bit more fuzzy than my other wheels with the material. I'm not sure if this material is cheaper and may wear out quickly but only time will tell. The hub also comes with a center wheel cover and 6 long countersunk screws to mount everything with. From my experience, the screws that it comes with will work to mount the hub to a quick release or hub extender but they’re really too short. With nuts and no washers, the threads were flush with the nuts and this also prevented me from using the center cover as the screws wouldn’t even reach the nuts when trying to mount the cover. My screws are all 45mm M5 countersunk so I'm not sure if these are what it was supposed to come with or they were put in the package by mistake. I would recommend M5x50mm countersunk screws to be safe. Another gripe I have but isn’t a big deal is the USB cable that it comes with. Simply, the cable is very cheap but it does work. It’s just so thin I can see it being an issue eventually. Another bad thing is it doesn’t seem to use the same connector on the wheel side that other wheels and hubs use. I'm not great at identifying connectors but I think it is some kind of XLR connector. I always like to have spare cords so eventually I'll do some more research to find out. Overall, this wheel and hub combo rocks, especially for the price; it’s tough to beat. The only things I may end up changing are the screw length along with adding the center hub cover. And maybe another steering wheel that’s a bit stiffer. ... show more
