I installed two of these in series to provide better filtering, first the 200 micron, then the 40 micron, with a bypass line for maintenance. In so doing the first filters out the large sand particles that plague my water system, the second any finer sediment. Every time the utility cuts off my water, the repressurization of the system shoves sand and sediment into my pipes, eventually clogging the washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator and the aerators on every faucet. These two filters are amazing at stopping that. Once a month I backwash the filters which I put into a nearby drainage vent pipe. It's so simple. I bypass the filters with a valve, close off the inlet, then open the drain ports. No more sediment! Manual cleaning of the filters is needed in my environment every 2-3 months. A quick soak in vinegar and a tooth brush and they are good to go again. Also, buying and installing the two lets me swap out the filters with little to no down time or time in bypass. ... show more

Use this when pumping from my pond to filter the debris and pond scum when using a sprinkler, otherwise the sprinklers clog fast. Connects to garden hose and works great and very cheap. I dunk it in the water with one side attached to the hose that goes to the pump and other open to suck in water.

I was 100% expecting leaks due to how easily this threaded on, but I used a few wraps of the grey Oatleys plumbers tape before hand and it fix snugly onto a 1” MNPT X SOC PVC Sch 40 adapter. I’m not sure about the 3/4” adapters it came with - they seem decent but that’s more potential points of leakage so I kept the filter on the 1” side of my piping for better flow and fit. Purge valve at the bottom works. Haven’t had sediment build up yet so can’t attest to it helping purge the screen any, but it functions so we’ll see how it goes. ... show more

This was the single most useful item that we have purchased. Before purchasing this item, we were having bits of metal and flakes of minerals. Getting caught in our faucet aerators. This caused clogs and low water pressure. after putting this up and installing we have not had to clean out any of the aerators or replace them since this has been wonderful. ... show more

    • Sub-par connections

We bought 2 of these filter housings to put inline with our well feed which has some rust particulate. They were advertised with 1" male NPT in and out, which would fit our system. However, even with the proper tape and torque, both units leaked. Turns out their MNPT has insufficient number of threads and taper. One of them even cracked open from torqueing on it to try to stop the leaking, and the other unit is now stripped due to the same problem. Had we known this, we would have planned to use their 3/4" MNPT adapters, but we were concerned because there was not enough material there to grab onto for proper torqueing. Needless to say, these are useless and ended up in the trash. We bypassed their positions for the time being until we figure out something else. Update: Sim-Pure reached out to me and sent two replacement units for reinstallation. This time we used the female pipe thread connections on the housings with no problems except slight restriction due to the reduced pipe size. Until they redesign and update the connections on these units, please do not use either their 1" MNPT or their adapters. Use only their 3/4" FNPT connections.     • A must have for intake for "Instant On" Tankless Hot Water Heaters

Have my own well, and found that when power is lost, or other causes, debri can hit the intake of my tankless water heater. Now with the SimPure installed, it catches all debri that can clog the heater. Strongly suggest that homeowners with their own wells, always install one to the water intake for their water heater. ... show more

    • If Teflon tape doesn't work, Thread Compound does.

Joint compound was the only way to get this to stop leaking. The concentricity of the threading is inconsistent, and teflon tape isn't designed to be a sealant. Thus, if enough of it is used to overcome the threading inconsistencies, water channels between the layers. The 3/4 " flanged adapter proved equally disappointing. Tightening to sufficient force to affect a seal forces the gasket into the water port, which destroys the seal. I discarded the 3/4 flanged adaper and used a standard 3/4" threaded union along with joint compound in the interal 3/4" internal threading. I would imagine that similar results are obtainable when using the 1 inch threaded coupling. ETA: I've edited my original review to remove a hostile tone that was unnecessary and unwarranted. The circumstances that generated the review are unchanged, but the response to my problem by the seller, and I presume the manufacturer, has been nothing less than extraordinary. Almost as soon as my review was posted they were reaching out to make this right. That is most uncommon and quite unusual. And worth recognizing. ... show more

    • This is great for well water

We got this for our RV because we are hooked up to well water. With the help from a regular filter and a water softener, this has really helped the quality of the water. (We do not drink this water, only use it for showers, dishes etc). It was actually because this filter worked so well that we purchased a regular filter with the same company. We know this was not meant to be hooked up to a hose, but with some adapters from Lowes/HomeDepot, we were able to install it easily. It did need to be tightened like crazy so it wouldn't leak though (we were only getting drips, even after using the tape). Still happy with our purchase ... show more
