Description

Our foam sensor pump is the most luxurious way to wash your hands, and it’s touch-free so no germs or smudges are left behind. Triggered by our fast and precise motion sensor, the aerating diaphragm pump delivers just the right amount of rich, creamy pre-lathered foam. To control the amount of soap desired, you can position your hand up close to the sensor for a little soap and farther away for more. It's also waterproof for easy cleaning. Refills are easy — just eject the old cartridge and insert a new one or use the refill cartridge with your favorite foam soap. The pump is rechargeable — one charge lasts up to 3 months. Update 07/15/2021: * The newer packaging has a smaller sample soap in a plastic pouch to use with the refillable canister. You get less sample soap, albeit much less environmental waste. * 2 of 4 units have failed, but replaced by SH with minimal hassle. * Some have the Simplehuman logo still silk screened in the BACK of the unit, but the upper dispenser portion can be twisted 180 degrees and the vertical soap dispense level sticker can be removed and replaced on the "was back, now front" side. I hope their QA improves after the pandemic. ********* TL;DR: Use the refillable soap canister with green straw to properly foam. This soap dispenser is now awesome. ********* 3 of 3 units I had would only spurt out liquid dribbles, rather than foam. 1 unit was from Amazon, 2 directly from SimpleHuman.com. SH even sent me a replacement soap canister, but it had the same issue. All of the SH purple lavender soap canisters simply do not foam, even with multiple re-priming. Note that the pre-filled canisters are not reusable (lids do not come off). Instead, I plugged in the green (extra foam) straw to the also-included reusable canister, and filled it with Method Free & Clear Foaming Soap. After 2 pumps to clear out the old soap, success! It has consistent, luxurious foam soap. I tried SH's purple disposable soap canister again: dribbles. Use the reusable canister again: foam! Same behavior with the other dispenser. FYI, this ST1057 model is SH's 3rd generation foaming soap dispenser. Amazon also sells the ST1048 2nd gen model for $50 (as of 3/18/2020) that looks similar. ********** PROS: + Foams great with refill canister. + Variable foam amount depending on your hand placement. + Magnetic USB charger cable design avoids water damage (but proprietary). + Attractive design. NEUTRALS: * Why is the SimpleHuman logo on the back of the unit, not front or top?? * The unit--especially the lid--is lighter than expected. CONS: - Only the bottom sliver of the soap canister is visible, so it's hard to determine the remaining amount, especially with clear soap. There should be a vertical window to the soap canister. - Slightest nudge will knock off the charger cable. It also does not come with a USB charger plug, but any generic one works (I don't know about Apple's). - Included prime tool (little white plastic stick) has a tag with a tutorial link... for a page that doesn't exist. - Although the package also comes with a reusable canister, it's utterly wasteful for pre-filled soap canisters to not be reusable as well. - Included soap does not foam! ... show more

    • I expected better reliability

I ordered two, One dies after 2.5 months and the other is working. For the price, I would expect better durability. We will see how the manufacturer handles this. In the past, they have had a good track record with products. Had one not died, I would have given a 5 star rating. I will update after contacting the manufacturer. ... show more

Like many reviews here, mine worked wonderfully for about 3 years. Then it just bricked, despite extensive efforts to troubleshoot per official instructions. Submitting a customer contact form on the official website is equally futile.

Overly complex interior. I say that because if you do not follow instructions precisely to refill soap, it is easy to break. (Yes, it happend to me) If you are willing to invest some time into getting to know a soap dispenser and commit to its continued care, this is for you! The media could not be loaded. Really only works well with a thin hand soap. The Simple Human brand has thin soap. Check the video for what actually comes out. Easy to use but not much volume.

    • No waiting for soap!

I love this thing!! The reason to pay nearly double the price of the other foam soap dispensers is that this one dispenses the soap right away. Other dispensers have a 1-2 second delay. Sounds like a small thing, but taking out that small delay makes hand washing less frustrating. This isn’t the simplest thing to set up, but once you have it set right, it’s reliable and a pleasure to use. The main set up task is choosing the right “straw” for your soap or detergent liquid. Mine came with 3 straws with different size/diameter holes. The straw diameter controls the amount of soap dispensed and the texture of the foam. ... show more

    • Dispenser too sensitive yet too little foams

I like the idea of a contactless hand soap dispenser. This bottle has beautiful color (mine is rose gold) and shape. Quality seems good but definitely has room to improve- first, its way too sensitive to any movement. I put it on my kitchen counter next to the sink (logical location) but every time I am working around the sink, this bottle started shooting out the foams. A little annoying. On the other hand, I like to see it to dispense more foams when I actually need to use it. It has two settings of dispensing amount of foams but even with the “more” , it still not as much as I prefer. I think it’s because the straw inside the bottle is too thin. So if I want adequate amount of foams I need to move my palm in and out it’s sensory couple times. Again quite annoying. ... show more
