  • Perfect Starter Banjo
Priced right, but in no way skimping on quality, Dean delivers with a perfect 5-string starter. Now if I could only figure out what possessed me to pick up the banjo ?!? It's worth it once you play that first clean roll and realize it was YOUR fingers that made the sound! Thanks Dean!

  • Good beginner banjo deal!
I bought this beginner banjo kit for my best friend, and she loves it! It's obviously not supurb quality like a $3000.00 one, but it's a perfect learner banjo. The sound is pretty darn good. And, the banjo is beautiful! That it comes with a strap, pitch pipe, and even a case makes it an even greater deal. The only problem is that if you're not sure about wanting the banjo, you will have to pay for shipping, plus shipping to send it back, plus a 25% restocking fee, which will end up that you have paid about $100.00 for nothing! SO, make sure you really want it!! I highly recommend this product for anyone wanting to learn how to play banjo but doesn't have thousands of dollars to spend on it. Have fun! ... show more

  • Worth the extra money over the cheaper ones. Difference is night and day.
I had a Vangoa, then my kids broke it. I bought this to replace it, and my friend said that I should buy a better one, so I did. This instrument deserves the title. The cheaper one felt like a toy compared to this one. SOO much better. Sound is also much better. Rim is made of solid aluminum, Sealed geared tuners, ect...., everything is high quality, and built to last. Also, The neck and frets are subtly different from the cheaper ones, just a hair wider, but not too wide, and better frets, make it much easier to play, without unintentionally touching, or fretting other strings. ... show more

  • one string is hard to tune, beautiful intrument
This banjo is beautiful. I was tuning it using a Snark and I just can't get the (short) G string, I'm not sure if it is the string that came with the banjo or not but I am going to replace it with my backup strings, and for the price honestly the strings aren't a big deal. Plays really nicely for a beginner like myself, but I think it is also great for someone more experienced because it is gorgeous and such great quality ... show more

  • Returned it
Received the banjo. After tuning it, I heard a buzz on the 7th fret on the top string and the bottom string. Took it to guitar center to have it looked at, as per manufacturer's suggestion. The tech said the wood of the neck was very dry and three of the frets were raised. He also stated that there may be some other problems with the banjo. Guitar center said it would take time and more money to fix the banjo that I had for less than 24 hours. Not sure if it was poor quality or poor storage. They suggested I return it. I returned it. ... show more

  • Excellent First Banjo
This was playable right out of the box. The bridge was already set up properly and the strings only required some minor tuning. This banjo comes with a 5/8" compensated Crowe Spacing bridge. That alone speaks volumes for Dean's attention to create a first class banjo. If you're thinking of spending much more for a first banjo, I would say, save your money and get this one instead. ... show more

  • Wow! Love this!
If you are looking for a starter banjo and dont want to spend that much money...this is it! You cannot beat the case coming with banjo. The sound is fantastic, it looks beautiful, and is really easy to pick up and play. However make sure you get yourself a nice little digital tuner as the pitch pipe is kinda cheap. ... show more
